Sorry, hit the wrong key and thread got posted before I was finished. Anyway these just arrived and am wondering if the stripes on the male could be a disease or some other reason for the difference in pigmentation. I'm a bit nervous since these are replacements from LA after the 1st ones were dead within 48 hours from presumed uronema or hemorrhaghic septicemia.

They are more than likely their stress colors. I wouldn't worry about it.

One died already, not even 5 hours. Any thoughts?

Any lesions or sores on them? Did you qt them or formalin dip them?

What is your salinity at, LA ships at about 1.019

1.019? I thought they ship higher. Unfortunately I didn't check their water. My salinity is 1.025. I temperature acclimated for 30 minutes and dripped for 2 hours into QT. I cant see anything visible other than the slight red streaks.

You shouldn't drip acclimate fish that are shipped overnight because once the bag is opened, the the fish are exposed to ammonia. I believe you have about 30 min once the bag is opened before it starts becoming toxic. So on top of possible ammonia poisoning and raising the salinity .06, the fish were definitely put through the test.

Divers Den ships at 1.025 but live aquaria is 1.019. For future orders, put a pin hole in the shipping bag and check the salinity with a refractometer and place a piece of scotch tape over the hole and temp acclimate. After you temp acclimate, place the fish directly into the water if the salinity is within .02.
