Anyone know (preferably because you have done it) whether the glass suction cup lifters will work on acrylic? They all say 'works on non porous clean flat surfaces'. Is acrylic considered to be non porous?

+1 works just the same on acrylic as on glass...
Must be a huge tank you're lifting.

Thanks chaps, that's rather what I suspected. Never hurts to ask. It's a 450/400 that weighs 580 lbs dry. Every little trick will help.

Im about to lift a 500lb dry glass aquarium and am looking for reliable suction cups. Did you ever end up using them and if so, what kind did you get?

It would work the same..... in construction they even use modified glass suction cups that’s are hooked up to suction air lines to lift stone, marble and rock slabs on site.

You will be fine using them on acrylic.

Move happened last week and the suction cups worked just fine. Ended up using four double cup lifters from harbor freight, each rated at 125 lbs.

Did you use them to just lift the tank for a few seconds, or were you able to carry the tank for up to a minute straight? Im trying to make sure that 4 guys can use them straight from the truck into the house with no dolly to rest on in between.

Just for the few seconds it took to get a cart under the tank.
