Do hard rocks melt or dissolve ?? If so, which chemical can be used ?? A hole of 100 cms diameter and 3 feet deep to be made on a particular portion of huge rock. Can this be made by using any acids ?

3 feet deep? Are you trying to set a fence post?

Normally I would say use a hand drill with a cement bit -- but for a 3 foot deep hole you would need to treat it like digging fence posts in rock -- get a digging bar and a hammer =) gl.

Depends on the type of rock. You can dissolve limestone with acid but cant do it to granite.

For that kind of hole, you'd probably want a drill of some sort.

What a weird question for a reef board and your first post IMO..
No mention even of the type or rock.. granite? limestone? quartz? obsidian?

and a 100cm x 3ft?
Huh? who mixes between metric and imperial units for hole dimensions..

We need to know the type of the rock!
