I have a vertex IN 180 in need of a pump I was looking at the aquatrance 3000s, at 211 gph it's a bit under sized but it will take the least amount of mod work. Does anyone have experience with this? It seems this pump is the direct replacement for the bubble blaster on a reef octo.

I used 2 of the 2000 model moddding my external skimmer. I needed the 3/4" output size.

If you need 1" output then it would work great for you.

My skimmer is very deep and pump sits at the bottom so it reduced its output of air pulling in by 1/3 of what its rated at.

Is it possible to have too much pump on a skimmer

Yes. To much turbulence is not good. Skimmers are engineered for so much pump.

Its a decent pump, for that price range. I believe I am at least 2 years running 24/7 on 2 pumps never cleaned with no issues.

I did have to make my own pvc adapters since my skimmer is different then the old opt pumps I had.

You van do anything with pvc if you have a heat gun ;)

Vertex 1n180. Aquatrance 3000s works well for this skimmer set in 8 inches of water
