For the last month I'm trying to fight this horrible algae.
Water parameters:
Nitrate - 0
Phosphate - 0.05

Changing 15% water every 2 weeks.

Tank is running for 3 months now. Coral and fishes look good.

Yesterday I tried to brush all the rocks but could not remove most of it. Today, some of the algae returned to the back glass.

I'm dosing 15 ml of Red Sea NOPOX daily (it was 10 ml until couple days ago).

Is this hair algae? Dino?
Is this just a phase in aquarium cycling?
What should I do with it?

Please help :(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171202/27a84203c73402f59aa51d29fd31c295.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171202/7570e6409f4a52059aa9bef4d0a934a7.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171202/9be5011b9f531075d99e80ac8c7b8867.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171202/17424afe499ecf985357a91276d7308c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171202/87e5d9131a20a127940187ac2ca6164e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171202/51ef9338fa9369a932871b69276138fb.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171202/d57804363fa267dd80eae3c684ca3f65.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171202/e87edd39184f352e7ae8f81b3223dd29.jpg

Looks like hair algae, maybe some slime on the pumps. Normal. What is your cuc? Some turbos and trochus snails will make short work of that.

First of all, excellent pics.

With undesirable algae, several things can help. Reducing nutrient input (less food), increasing competition for nutrients (add macro algae), increasing predation (herbivores, clean up crew), and increasing export (manual removal, skimming) are some options.

I like Cerith snails. They reproduce to match the food supply. Mollies are also a great bang for the buck, and being livebearers, they effectively turn algae into feeder fish. The key to whatever crew you choose is to make sure their only source of food is the algae you want gone. If your algae is the only thing to eat, it will get eaten.

Macro algae is beautiful competition, but not for everyone. Consider putting some in a well-lit sump or refugium. There WILL be some form of plant in your tank. Choose what kind and where you want it.

Figure out an effective removal method and do it often.

Good luck!
