I bought a 2 inch yellow tang about 3 days ago from my lfs. He is picking at rock some and eating frozen food but won't touch the seaweed on a clip. Is this normal? Should I not put it in the tank daily? I don't have alot of algae so not much to eat thier. Please help

I wouldn't be too worried about it, sometimes it may take a while before they notice the clip has food to eat. Maybe put it in once every few days until he notices the seaweed.

My yellow tank seemed to take forever to start eating noir. He would eat everything else and really ate algae off the rocks. He really didn’t start on the nori unteil the tank algae went away. So just give him. Different fish start eating stuff at different rates.

I've had a Tomini in my 120 for over a year now. Just a couple weeks ago it decided that Nori was edible. Now, I can'e even get my hand out of the tank before it is tearing it to shreds.

Give it time.

Could be the clip. Try rubberbanding to a small rock.

I dont put sea weed in for my tangs every day. I dont want the added nutrients creating problems. I watch them graze and pay attention while feeding. Couple times a week I'll drop some sea weed but as long as they look good and are grazing/eating, no need to worry.

I let the nori get soggy and rub it back and forth between my fingers to make the pieces small and free floating. You could give that a try. Typically fish don't recognize a sheet of nori on a clip as food, it takes other fish showing them to learn

I find some tangs just don’t care for nori all that much. I had a blue hippo, naso & purple tang before I got a kole tang & they all loved it from the start. The kole tang doesn’t care much for it. I put a piece on the clip & 2 of my leopard wrasses go at it before the kole does. I may try a different way to feed it for the kole. It’s something I never had to worry about with my other tangs.

Hard to tell, but it looks like it could be brook, Uronema, or hlle.
