So a couple weeks ago I posted the following question after a flame angel died without any cause:
http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2667636&highlight=flame+angel

Office tank:
Since this time, LA sent me a new larger and healthier flame angel that was eating prime flake and seaweed select on day 1 and continued for 10 days. Last Friday (1 week ago) is the last time I saw the flame eat. This flame angel seems to be heading down the same road as the previous flame angel. Office tank includes two clowns and royal gamma all model citizens. (Tried flake, Rods original, mysis, clam strips). Also, favia, red mushroom, green toadstool, frogspawn and snails doing fine.
0 ammonia
0 nitrite

Home tank:
My home tank is a 75 gallon with a 20 year old yellow tang, 23 year old Creme angel, 2 clowns and one Flame Angel added on February 1st (same shipment as the previous flame that died).

Can I add this not eating flame to my 75 gallon to give it a shot at surviving? I did not QT, but I do not see anything wrong with any of the fish from LA, but eating has been an issue.

Downside is all my fish in the 75 gallon are doing great with the new additions and come out to the glass to see whoever is near. I don't want to disturb this nice community but I don't want to sacrifice another flame angel either.

The fish from LA come direct from a wholesalers tanks, with the possibility of diseases from multiple geographic locations...
Flames have been a problem for a while and seem to be hit or miss with survival

I tried your idea many years ago and I lost fish that I had kept for ten years. Do not add a sick fish to a display tank.
The old rule was get a fish to make 30 days, and you can keep it forever.

I've had good luck with LA. my last order from them a little over a year and a half ago I got 12 fish, 5 were butterflys and they are still in my tank.

I've had good luck with LA fish also, but I usually QT them to prevent problems.

I matched the 1.018 from the bag in a 5 gallon bucket then brought it up to 1.024 over 1 hour. I used my hand to get the fish out and not use the bag water.

It ate well for the fist 10 days.

LA has great fish like my two small Regal Angels from Maldives, the problem is with the Flames from Xmas Islands/Marshall Islands. I finally went with two from Vanuata and they work out fine. They have since paired and now reside in my 180

That is too fast, That jump in salinity should take a week.

Have done it hundreds of times, never a problem.

Update:
(Knock on wood)

The flame angel in my home tank is doing great still.

Surprisingly the flame angel in my office tank is still alive, one month later of receiving the fish and 3 weeks after the fish stopped eating.

The office flame started to pick at the live rock 2 weeks ago which was a good sign. The office flame angel seems to be eating Ocean Nutrition Seaweed (green) in the evening/night only. I do not see the Flame eating the seaweed when I am in my office. Within the last week I have been adding Garlic Xtreme to the seaweed in an effort to further entice eating.

I just want to provide an update for those struggling with Marshall Island Flame Angels. It may be just this fish, but may not be either.

FYI
My Marshall Island Flame at home eats prime reef flakes, mysis, rods, and seaweed select.

Side question since I was searching for flame angel information when I found this. Can you mix pygmy angels? I have a coral beauty and was considering adding a pair of flames. This would be in a 210 gallon with 150 lbs of rock. I thought the flames get a bit bigger than the coral beauty. I'm also interested in a pair of regals but don't know size comparison or if they are similar in shape/size and eat same food - I'm telling myself that is a bad idea.
