I have an aquarium with the following dimensions:
47 inches in Length
21 inches in height
20 inches in width

Rock work is minimal. Tank will house primarily SPS and has lots of flow. 91 gallons total water volume. 73 without the sump.

What tang species could I house in a tank with these dimensions?

Thank you

I've had feedback that I can keep a tomini or a kole tang, but yellow as been very hotly debated. That's the one I originally wanted. Either that or a mimic tang, but I think my tank may be too small for the mimic.

lot of people go with a yellow in a 90gallon... but he will definitely be the king of the tank

I've got a scopas and purple in my 90
48x24x30... with about 100 lbs of rock..so tons of hiding spot.. so far so good... though I have been chewed out a few times by the tang police

I would say you could do a YT.

My YT is in a 120g 48x24x24 and is 10yrs old. He is looking a bit old but.... so am I. ;-)

I have a yellow in my 90. He’s only been in a few months but the only aggression he has ever shown was for a couple of days when I put in a rabbitfish. I’m highly stocked too.

I also have a Scopas in my 90 (48 inches long) and he does well!
Consider a Scopas if you want something different - I love mine!
Avoid ANY oblong Surgeons (Aracanthuridae) like Hippos Powders or Nasos. Too big for a tank your size.
Also, it should go without saying: no more than ONE Tang for a tank your size.

Any of the small bristletooth tangs will work (ie Kole Tang, Two Spot, Squaretail, Tomini, White Tail Bristletooth if you have the money and can find one). The Yellow can be done but would be pushing it.
