Water pump.

I'd like to have my salt mixing station in the basement and when needed, pump to the upstairs Display tank/sump.....

My question is, any reason I can't just use a sump pump ? As long as it has the head pressure?

Depends on the pump.. most..absolutely not..
I wouldn't think many would do well in a marine/saltwater environment and depending on the materials used may either fail sooner or contaminate the water..

Cast iron/steel are generally a big no-no and the lifespan may be as little as one year or less due to corrosion..
