As the hottest weekend of the year approached I decided to see how using a fan to blow across tank top would help prevent overheating. My 175 gal RS 650 usually runs 80-81.5 year round without any chiller and I keep the room A/C at 75. I have 4 Hydra HD 26 LEDs about 6 inches over surface which are on for 13 hours, including 3 hours ramping up and 3 hours ramping down.

The results as shown below surprised me. I turned the fan off each night after lights out and u can see the temp rising back overnight until fan is turned on again.

I only run my fan a little before and a little after peak photo period. House A/C is set at 73...stays mostly between 79.9 and 80.5 max...

I tied my fans to my apex so that they come on according to need. Just use the Apex chiller program set to your needs.

I do the same. A fan on my frag and a fan on my sump are very effective at heat exchange.

Same as me. Just a small clamp type desk fan blowing across the top does wonders to keep my temps within .5 degrees, and with it being tied into my apex, it comes on and off as needed.

Set at 73 and the house stays at 79.9 - 80.5?

Too clarify, house set at 73, tank hovers between 79.9 and 80.5, well unless wife plays with thermostat...
