Hey folks,

I have an elegance coral that was looking beautiful until started to not show up.

Tank is on fallow and went a fluconazole treatment for about 3 weeks where I had my skimmer off (mistake)

I've done 2 large water changes since then.
Water params are:
NO3- 5ppm
PO4 - 0.2
ALK- 11.5
Ca- 400
Mg- 1380

Any help is very appreciated https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180930/b535ae13af88638e8a4cc923eba9591b.jpg

How long is the EC been in the tank?
Any other LPS and are they OK
Alk is IMO in the range but way to high for level of nitrate/phosphate
Consider running alk about 8-8.5, 11.5 is better for ULtra low SPS tanks
Keep in mind that EC generally do not thrive long in captivity, not to say there are not cases where they seem to last forever

Thats why most recommend against elegance corals...They typically don't do well long term..

Your water parameters are fine and running without a skimmer for a bit is not a mistake...skimmers are optional

IMHO, your parameters are close enough. In fact, Elegance corals are found in relatively turbid lagoons on a sandy bottom.

Have you made any changes to flow? I've had one for several years now and while it did great for quite some time while using koralia ph's, since I switched to gyres it has not been the same - the tentacles have shortened and it just does not open like it used to. SPS, OTOH, are doing great.

Looks like a classic case of ECS. Sorry say but that looks like a goner to me.

Elegance from the indo pacific region are known for it. Elegance from the aussie region do not suffer from this disease.

Got it from #liveaquaria (http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=liveaquaria) about a month ago. It was looking great until it didn't. What ECS?

Elegance coral syndrome. Its a terminal disease with no known cure. I've unfortunately have had 2 die from it. I'm to chicken now to try an aussie variety.

I've been watching LA, and they typically tell you if its an indo or aussie variety.

Hey folks, thanks a lot. I did read all responses on time just that these past few days have been hectic and took me a bit of time to be able to comeback and thank you.

Well, the EC is not looking any better, it is always frustrating when you have a coral die with nothing you can do. :(

It’s unfortunate that stores sell life, that they know has a short expectancy.
It up to us , the hobbyists, to know which they are and refuse to buy.
Then, over time, they will leave them in the sea.....
