I have a 75 gallon mixed reef that is doing great with a 4x4ft t5 bulbs.
All I need is a sunset sunrise effect, any suggestions?
I looked at the fluval 3.0 and the aquatic life edge, but I’m not very impressed.
I’m looking to get a fixture under 200 bucks.

Current USA marine pro led w/ ramp timer.
Just got mine yesterday and ill be installing over the weekend.
Can't find much for long term usage and coral health in my searches but I do like the features and I bought the dual led fixture w/ loop system that will run my wave pumps as well as my recirculation pump but minus the Bluetooth option.
Decent price and most reviews I've read were good.
Live aquaria had a 20% off coupon 2 days ago. May still be valid.

You "want" a sunrise/sunset effect... Its not a need :p

What is it about the 2 fixtures you stated that you didn't like?
That will help narrow down others suggestions..

You’re right, maybe I just want it.

Anyways, the 2 fixtures I saw were not intense enough “based on online videos and reviews” in other words, I’m afraid that if they ramp up in the morning to simulate sunrise, then when my t5s come on, it will still be a shock or a big difference in light intensity at once. Not as smooth.

I don’t know for sure, but I want to hear opinions; maybe I’m wrong.

Maybe someone in here have used them and hopefully tell me.

If you use either of those and ramp to 100% then turn on your t5 setup there should be no shock to the fish. If by chance there is, it'll only be for a few days til they get used to it.
Right now I use chinese black boxes and the just turn on blue then white then whites off followed by blues. My fish have actually got so used to the timing that they start move around just before lights on and they go behind the rocks about 15 mins before the blues go off.

There aren't a lot of fixtures that dim well. Either they color shift as they dim or cut out well before zero. Probably more for the human, but I will say that fish behavior as the lights dim down is fascinating to watch. Also can trigger spawning.
