Solar, AKA Red Headed Salon Fairy Wrasse. Colorful like a sunrise and constantly cruising the tank. Reef safe and never bothers anyone. Favorite fish.

Yea I was thinking about getting a leopard wrasse. How good of a chance he will survive is there? I don’t have a lid and I heard they are jumpers. My tank has been established for 2 years now so I don’t think him eating will be a issue.

All fish are jumpers. You will lose a fish without a lid. I had a Red Head Salon get out through a 1/2 gap between my original lid and the rear of the tank.

Search for the Leopard Wrasse primer at reefcentral. Lots of good info there.

I recently tried 5 different leopard wrasses, 3 from Liveaquaria, and 2 from a LFS...all 5 didn't make it. They're hard to get past a QT. My 5th one made it 3.5 weeks before it died, and I still don't know why it died.

So I'm taking a break from them, but many others have had success and they are fantastic fish if they make it into your DT.

By the way, are Cirrhilabrus safe to have two or three varieties in a 150 gallon DT?

Yes, but it depends on which ones. Some are peaceful, some are terrors (blue throat, scott's), and some don't mix with close relatives.

Which ones are you looking at?

Was thinking a Solon red head with maybe a bluehead (cyanopleura) or exquisite (exquisitus). If the latter 2 are bad ideas, what would you suggest with a Solon?

QT at same time? Or no?

C. solorensis and cyanopleura are close relatives, so i would choose one of those. I've heard more complaints of aggression from solon, but i haven't kept either.

Either would be fine with exquisite, especially in a 150 gallon.

You could probably qt together, depending on qt size, but i would watch and be ready to divide the tank.

I have two female blue star leopards. I lost one in QT. I weaned them to now eating my home made food. I also have a Red Head Salon, Yellow/purple, Possum

Pink margin, Katherine's or pintail wrasses are nice. Also tamarins which are some of my favorite.
