Is anyone confident enough to recreate a needle wheel impeller for an eheim 1260 H&S skimmer? Willing to pay decent amount for a good product.

I do! I’ll have to take my skimmer offline and I carbon dose pretty heavy. Can you take measurements pretty quickly?

Hmm, let me know how that works out, but I'm guessing all those pins would shear at the layer lines. Now a mesh wheel, now there's an idea....

Could I accomplish the same aeration? I’m willing to test out some designs and pay for a working product.

I’d bet you could print with 100% infill and reduce the length of the pins by 1mm and tie them all together on the top...

Mesh wheels generally make finer bubbles and therefore better foam. The problem is they are finicky since they are made with a mesh disc (think coarse scotch Brite pad) that's attached to the pinwheel. 3d printing is great for making complex shapes that can't be injection molded, so it might be possible to print a mesh wheel that would out perform the pinwheel. The catch is that you'd need to be able to dis-assemble the impeller part from the magnet. Most are molded together.

I did pull the schematic. The plastic is pretty easy to disassemble on this impeller.
