Hey, a question for "Locals" who have collected stomatopods in Kaneohe Bay... Here's a pic of shore just across from Coconut Island. I saw tons of crabs here but couldn't discern crab holes from mantis holes. Is this the type of habitat where you've had success finding them, such as P. Ciliata?

Dr. Roy gave me some tips a while back, but I was unsuccessful the first time out. :(

Sorry for the fuzzy pic. Lots of water on the lens. :)

Thanks!

If you walk this area at very low tides particularly as the tide is starting to come back in, you should be able to spot P. ciliata out of their burrows foraging. They are much harder to find in their burrows or when the water is more than 4 or 5 inches deep.

Thanks Roy. I won't have a chance to go again until may, but I'll definitely look up the tides for then.

At lowest the water was 4-5" when I visited. It was a great place to look around and I was able to see some cool shrimp/goby pairs.
