Hello, the first batch will be released in about 8 weeks. Looking like 6-8 frags the first round. They are growing quickly so I do not forsee any problems taking care of everyone on the list. I will start at the top of the list and work my way down in order. They will be $75 each, 1-1.5 inches. I will do my best to get them out as soon as they are ready. Everyone on the list will receive an email or PM when it is their turn.

I thought I'd chime back in here.

I was a lucky recipient of the first `batch' of these to get out. Lovely coral, really great whole order from Serdar.

When this coral arrived, the styro-floating frag had flipped itself ... and despite the excellent packing [and warm bags] ... the tip was beat up pretty bad and the coral had spent sometime exposed due so some strange vagarity of shipping. The tip looked white, with some other `abraded' areas near the tip. Stressed me out, but as the coral was well encrusted and looking good ... I almost always give it a shot.

Phishy was great to deal with about it, but first order of business was a little TLC of the frag. A few weeks later, it seems to be doing fine ... barely less colorful from acclimatization, but yet one lovely coral.

Much nicer in person than this photo ... but I'd say it's all healed.

Great color coral, looks more blue to the eye, more purplish to the camera. But really saturated color :)

The move is going great but slow. We have the first 500 gallons up and running now. All of the SPS have been moved over and are slowly getting adjusted. The move has slowed the growth down for now but I am sure it will be back to normal soon. I am still trying to get the next batch out in July.

Seemed very affected by my red bugs which are now gone ... slowed down it's growth some - but as it came beaten up from UPS package destruction service ... then got infested badly with red bugs for a few months ... I'm impressed it's been as pretty and done so well.

No, I DID NOT get red bugs from anything related to Phishy Business. Not on this coral, not on the other cool ones I've gotten from them.

Is that clear? I want to make sure no one thinks this ... evidently I was not clear the first time. My tank had them, so when I introduced this frag ... it got them.

To be honest, I'm not sure where I got the red bugs ... but given the obvious great health of the coral - and the significant effect of red bugs on it ... there's no way that Tort had a red bug before it hit my tank. I'm pretty sure I got them in a frag swap :(

I just have a question or two. Is this tort same as either California tort, or Oregon tort? If different, can you describe the differences please?

Hello, to answer your question zrograviti on which tort this is…..well, neither. Actually it is most likely not a tort. The original colony came from Bali as an aquaculture specimen.

The corallites and color are very different then the Cali and Oregon torts. Mine have shovel like corallites with very sharp edges. The color is a more intense blue when compared to the torts that I have collected. This may be due to my specific system parameters and equipment. It dose seem to grow faster, except for a recent move to a new facility. In the last 3 weeks the growth rate is back to normal. Also, mine are very resilient to tissue damage. A very quick healer! The one thing that I have noticed on propagating these is that any frag I make smaller then .5 inch RTNs. Larger frags of ¾ to 1 inch attach and encrust within 2 weeks without any problems.

I would like you to know that I am working very hard on the propagation of these, trying to get the colony numbers up to a point where everyone on the list will get one frag. I do not want to give a time line at this point. I have 10 small colonies that will soon be at the point where they can be fragged again. When this happens I should be able to move through the list quickly. I am only going to be able to send one frag per person on the list. I am in the process of getting a clear cut identification on these, if that is possible?

Phishy ... I agree with your ID thoughts. Comparing it to an ORA Tort it seem obvious that this is a different species/variety. `Shovel shaped' corallites ... good description.

It is a quick healer, but not that fast of a grower for me ... or rather it's branching out rather slowly while growing off the tip + much thicker at a good rate.

I think that picture was a few months ago.

Not a LOT of growth since then, maybe a 1/2" on each branch and a couple new branches starting but the color has really come back nice. Not that it was ever bad, Its just back to where it was. :D

Holy Moly, this this is PURPLE. It's the most solid purple coral I have ever seen. I also asked Serdar to send me some stag frags and was very pleasantly surprised. I'll try to get pix later, but this was worth the wait. I don't think I'd ever spend this much money on a frag again, but it's far better than other frags I've paid $50.

Bingo, ROAB. Different coral, this is not the ORA one.

I have the two of them mounted about 2" away from each other facing opposite directions ... and it could not be clearer they are not the same variety of coral - I'd probably not call them the same species.

HOLY SMOKES thats a HUGE wait list! Glad I received mine yesterday! I've already put it in the tank and its awesome under 20k radium. The polyps already extended and the piece is just beautiful. The frag is also VERY well packed and not as small as I'd expected. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Russ, I have a 5 foot tank and run 2x400w 20k Radiums (on pulse starts) and 2x250w DE 10k ABs. I also have a pair of 54w T5 blue+. All of these were running when the picture was taken.

I took the picture right after the coral had been acclimated and placed at the bottom of my tank. I would say it is even bluer than my Oregon tort, and it has very blue polyps which the oregon does not. Coralites are very different between the two. I hope it grows faster though! ;)
