I'll add my name to the list in the hopes we can get everyone's name and e-mail in one convenient post. I bet there are 25-35 RC members with mantis (as pets).

I at one time had 3 of them that hitched their way in on LR from TBSW into my 72 gal tank. Due to the fish and inverts I have in there I have removed 2 of them and given them to friends, there is still 1 more that I hear banging all night long but can not find him. Even when I took my LR out of the tank for a move he did not appear. So he is just staying in there. I would like to get rid of him cause he did eat one of my fish about 6 mos ago.

Have a couple myself. I took everything out of my 20g, dipped the rock in a bucket of fresh water to get the buggers out, found 1 Philippine Mantis, like a peacock, and then set everything back up. Yesterday I was very surprised to see a 2" Ciliated Mantis staring back at me as I watched my dwarf lion eating live brine shrimp!!! Where he hid during my tank cleaning out I have no idea, but he's there. On top of that, in two very small holes I saw a baby mantis in each!!! We're talking like two real scrawny guys at about 1/3" in length. Was very shocked at these discoveries, but don't mind too much. There is plenty of live food for them, from brine shrimp every other day to crabs barely big enough to see, up to 2"carapace guys, that I hope they all can co-exist and let the little guys grow up. There is a real nice Philippine in my 40g that has deliquently killed and eaten a crab every other day now for about 6 weeks. I have seen him once, nice looking fellow, at about 3". So...add me to the list of Mantis owners.

Add me to the list. :D Eventually I'm going to get a 55 gallon for Sashimi with a THICK plexiglass divider, and get a second peacock mantis. :D THEN the punches will fly! :D

Runt is the king of my 10 gallon tank. I've got an anemone, a couple hermits, some local live rock, fiji live rock, a crab, couple fish... but they all live in fear of my mantis shrimp.

I still have one, but only because I haven't found anybody to take it yet, and I hate to flush the weird little critter, so I'll probably be stuck keeping it.

Howdy,
Add us to the list - in addition to at least 3 in our main tank we just picked up a 6" basher from the LFS.
They were going to keep him, but my wife liked it so much she convinced them out of it and got a nice acrylic tank just for him.

don't shoo me out, but I don't have one... yet.
I just built a plexiglass aquarium for one, and bought 40lbs of uncured rock hoping to get one. ALAS!!!
I do really want one, but this little town where I'm at in Northern Mississippi will never get one at its one excuse for a lfs. :(
What to do, what to do? Anyway, although I don't have one yet, I figured you could count me in as someone who is pro-Mantis.

there are plenty of us here who would gladly give you any info you need and also appreciate another persons input and experiences.
can your lfs specially order you one in?
my lfs calls me whenever they find one in liverock and gives them to me for free!
i think we can let you stay on the " who owns a mantis" list. lol
