I was posting this poll for the reason, my new 240 was setup and for the next 4-5 years it will be a F/O system. The thing is, im at a dead lock to which i will hoiuse in this 240. Now the other three marine fishes that will be in this are; Vlamingi Tang, Mappa and my 9 1/2-10" tuskfish and the 4th fish will be an angelfish. Im hoping for a vote of the most favorite Angelfish to be done with at lease 100+ RC members. Of course after a few months i will add a calcium reactor, so when the time came to upgrade to a reef tank, the most i would need to do is add MH.

I am in the same quandry with an Angel decision! I have my favorites narrowed down to:

1)Annularis
2)Imperator
3)Regal
4)Blue Girdled

My tank doesn't even have water in it yet so I have a while to make a final decision! Especially since it will be the last fish added and not for at least a year after tank establishment! Good luck!

My fav is the Imperator Angelfish. I saw an awesome specimen yesterday at my LFS. This fish is the entire reason I want a 240 in my next house. LOVE IT

Triggerfish...........about 6 months. I watched him at the LFS for about 2 months as he went through some hard times. Once he was looking healthy I snapped him up.

About the max they grow be about 7", so i will count your choice of the Asfur.

I've had an asfur for over three years now and it is a great fish and has been reef safe as well, but if I had to choose from your list and could only pick one fish it would be the goldflake angel.

Thanks, i do have an Imperator in my 220 and as of now the most choice from others is the Imperator. As you can see that the choice is many and yet when you look at many them it be difficult to just pick one, put people, this is what i need for your to do, please make a choice of only one. I know that in some years later i will take these fishes back because my plan is that this 240 will be a reef tank.

At the time I started this thread on the date of 02/24/2004, I was to then look in thinking of setting up my 240 reef tank as a temporally FO tank but then in a short time I became aware that I would be moving even sooner then was to be expected. So in the light of setting up the 240 even as a FO tank for a while became not so good an idea for in moving it would cost as much as $1,200 and then again whenever I think to add any angel I look to wait for that tank to age quite a bit.

So many already know this that I will not now be doing the 240 as a FO for I am paying in a setup for a Reef system and if I was to do it only as a FO tank, the cost would cut down to more then half. And I did mention about the Regal Angel, this be the Angel I will go for after 18 months the 240 be started in loading corals, etc.

emperors from them x-mas islands are absolutely stunning. They have the bright orange tail.
I also really like the goldflakes. I've seen so many of them lately... they are growing on me! I just shipped one out that was 3" and had the most blue on the fins that i have ever seen... it was hard to let it go.. lol

I liked th Koran , French and Queen, Regal as they are hardiest and prettiest and cheapest overall, the ASFUR is great too but very piricey, stay away from lemon peels, coral or rock beauty and bi color , have heard and read saying they are no hardy and hard to feed, not to say there are not great successful specimans being kept but over all avergaes of them!!!! good luck!!! i eventually want ot get an angel myslef but am going to wait at least a year with my 150 they are said to do best in more mature tanks, i am at six months now so i am continuing my research and quest like you for the best over angel, let me know what you may find out yourself asd there is so much inof to go thru about them some it very conflicting!!!! a reputasble fs owner told me 2 disregard 50 percentof what you read on these forums and sites online literally take it all with a grain oif salt for sure, no pun intended!!!!
