Arm & Hammer and Mrs. Wages

I have a question about the Arm & Hammer and Mrs. Wages. I am new to the hobby, and am finding out how very addictive the hobby is, but also how expensive it is as well. For that reason, I am always looking for ways to cut costs.

Could you please tell me how much of each of these substances you add/gallon and at what frequency?

When you say that the Arm & Hammer is a buffer, does that mean that it will raise or lower the pH?
