I am looking to buy a skimmer for a new tank I am planning plus a sump of around 50 gallons. Can you suggest the proper size for a tank 72 x 30 wide x 24 high?

I don't think I have room for a 30" tall skimmer and still be able to remove the collection cup.

I was thinking about the CS8-2 as a compromise. Do you have another recommendation?

Thanks.
Mickey

Or what about the CS6-2? Is that too small a unit?

Hi Mickey,

Any sized Euro would still be a nice addition to your tank, but i would recommend the 8-2 for your tank size and space. Could always go up to a 12, but i think 8-2 would do the job. EuroReef's ratings are very low, the skimmers the recommend for 75 gallons will blow away many on the market recommended for twice that. So the 8-2 should keep up nicely.

thanks

CS8-2 all the way. Have one in a 180gal system with great results. Buy right the first time and you won;t be stuck with an undersized skimmer later. THough the cs8 may have the same 500 SEdra as other smaller ER models, the larger diameter chamber allows for much better contact time and better skimming. Hope thsi helps, JOHNNY
