Nice dude,
Do you prefer the uniform colonies or the mixed ones (like your first pic?). I have had a couple like that with different colors mixed in and I actually culled/cut/fragged them until I got uniform colors, not sure if it was worth the effort tho.
Here is my latest frag:

Click on the picture in your gallery you want to show up here (make it large). Then right click on the picture and click on "properties" on the pop up menu. Highlight and copy the "address" - it should end in .jpg.
Then paste that address into the post - put [ img] before the address, and [ /img] after the address (remove the space immediately after the first bracket - if I didn't include the space, the IMG tag would disappear :D ).
Then your picture should appear.
HTH,
Kevin

Lucy,
You have to have the picture hosted on a website somewhere for the IMG tags to work. If it is hosted already, don't use the picture name, right click on the picture and get the properties (as described above) - that's the "address" you need for the picture tpo show up.

Earlier this week I took a drive to visit thelogicalreef at their new Logicalreef retail store! Here are some pictures of a few zoo's I picked up while I was there, and I had a great time. If you're in the area I would reccomend stopping by and hanging out w/ Bryan and Lee some, I know I had a blast.
Picture quality is a little low on these ones, deffinatley don't do them justice. I will have better pictures soon.

All my zoos in my 15G have been reluctant to open up fully for the past three weeks or so. I was watching very closely to find zoo eating nudies day and night, but I have not been able to find one until today.
Since I could not find any nudi on the zoos in my 15G tank, I thought the problem was caused by other reasons and decided to experiment. I broke up one of a larger zoo rock and placed them in different places including one in my 29G tank where other zoos had been very happy. This afternoon I found one nudi for the first time on the small rock I placed in my 29G :eek2: It had a few eggs on its back. Yikes!!
I immediately collected all zoos in my 15G and the little one in my 29G and gave them 5 minutes fresh water + iodine dip. I did not find any nudi on the other rocks or in water. I put that one nudi I found on the little rock into fresh water/iodine water, too, and the nudi died quickly. I don't know if one zoo eating nudi can cause zoos on a few rocks to close up, but now I am worried about my 29G. The little rock with a nudi was in my 29G for only about 8 hours. Does zoo eating nudi travels fast enough to infect other zoos (not very close to the infected one) in 8 hours?
Should I go ahead and treat all the zoos in my 29G, too?
Tomoko
dellrio
06/16/2004, 04:58 PM
yes.. treat them all... thats just what i think.... as it was a tough battle to win.. but i havent seen one in months... i sucked them out till i couldnt handle staring into the tank for hours trying so hard to see each one... finally i dipped... and no more zoos disapeared or died.. the zoo eating nutis i had tore through my zoos in a matter of a month, reporoducing like mad.... i am glad i got a handle on things... i thought i never would..
dellrio
06/16/2004, 04:59 PM
oh and i dipped in a reef dip and iodine bath.. not freshwater... that always scares me =)
also.. some of thse nudis change color to blend in with the zoo they r eating... on my yellow green colony... i have HUGE yellow nudis.. i didnt even see them right away.. i thought they were just the skirt of a zoo...

How long does it take for Zoos to multiply? I bought a small rock that had about 5 stalks on it about 3 months ago. It has doubled in size to about 10 stalks now.Do They spread rapidly? I glued the little rock onto a huge piece of carribean and it looks to be spreading to it. Id say the colony isnt any bigger than 2" .They are cool green with yellow dots in the middle - just wish they grew faster :).

I love the metallic-looking zoanthids. Very nice colony there! I have some copper/golds that don't photograph nearly as well as your that are still re-coloring from spending too much time under too little light... /sigh
Back to the photos...
The copper/golds I mentioned (not quite back to their full glory)...

Here's one of my latest frag-additions. Got it as 'Yellow-greens' and when they first opened in the tank they were all orange. Two weeks later two of the polyps had turned fully yello-green while the center polyp looks to be getting 'assimilated,' borg-style...

The skirts are a vibrant orange. Even more striking than the 'Flame" zoanthids...
Nope, these survived the fuzz! Started with 4 polyps last Fall (?) and now have about a dozen poylps... so they aren't the fastest growers...

I think John76 has a zoo fetish ;)
Here is a frag I found by chance at a Fish store. Quite neat, purple with yellow mouths... The one on the right is kinda shaded, but the ones in the foreground show the color a bit better.
dam, will post tonight, link isn't working properly.

Either your camera, your photo-skills or your zoanthid are better than mine... :P
I love those guys:

The rotten picture is due in part to them being in a horrible photo-area (under the grunge-line and too close to the glass). ;)

Could these be the same also? Bad pic, they're under power compacts. Maybe if i had 400 watt 20K bulb they would look like Lil'Salty? :D

Very similar Heuerfan. Though I like you morph better with the doubled-skirt/tentacles. Nice polyps.

I've got a colony of these, one of my favorites, even if it is a little slower growing than the rest.

I know this is not a zoo post, but what is that hitchiker in that pic? I have several of these filament-munching "worms" in my tank and was always curious what they were called.

A Vermetid snail. Mostly harmless, but the mucous web it uses to capture food can irritate some corals....

Thanks anemone! The webs they spit out are pretty strong. They feel like hair! Cool animals though.

I break them off of my zoo rocks. The ones in my nano definitely irritate my zoos. They grow back fairly fast though.

I just picked these up the other day. The centers are more yellow (they have a greeish tinge in the pic). I love them!

Hey man, I didn't start the craze! :) Anywho the actual photo looks horrible, it was under actinic w/ strange camera settings, then I did some affects in photoshop... I said it up front it wasn't the real deal, just for fun :)
Here is a regular 175W MH 10K shot of the colony I took a while back.

OK well after looking at this thread I am going to be spending most of the remaining afternoon shooting out pms and begging to buy frags.
Great job on the pics all, i have to say this is the best thread on zoos that i have seen. Lots of variety as well.
