Hi,

I have a SpectraPure RO/DI unit. I used to keep it in the in the spare bathroom to make water. This winter my husband wanted it out of there so we set it up in the garage. The heat was no problem in the AZ winter--but summer is a different story. I remember reading in the manual--which I have misplaced at the moment--that the RO membrane should not be allowed to get too hot. Is this true of the other filters as well or just the RO membrane. If it is just the membrane, I thought I could take it off the unit when I am not making water and keep it in a large ziplock bag in a cool spot in the house or even in the refrig. Or do I need to move the whole unit back into the house for the winter?

Thanks for your help.

Pam

The real problem with high temperature water is that, UNDER PRESSURE, the glue that seals the membrane material can become separated. "Static" conditions, as in your AZ garage, will probably not affect the membrane. Many users have inadvertantly run hot water for short periods of time with no problems. If a membrane comes "un-glued", you will see a huge increase in product water output, along with an increase in TDS.
