Hello all,

I just picked up my first clam today. I am unsure of what kind it is. I noticed it has a large stringy thing coming from one of its mouths. What is that? Any suggestions with this clam? Placement etc...

I am running 2 250w 15k MH in my 65g tank. I plan on feeding it DT's.

Thanks

Crocea, I have mine on the rocks. Others prefer to put them in the substrate.
Once in a while you will see a brown string that looks like sausage links (very thin) that comes out of the smaller hole (excurrent?), it's waste (poop).

Great thanks for the reply.

Agreed...sure looks like a T. Crocea to me. The string could either be an expulsion of zooxanthalle or just "poop" :)
