OVERFLOW for octo tank?

How did u guys secure your overflows so that the octopus could not get in them and then into your sump without restricting the flow of your overflow?

I actually just screened the u tube and didnot worry if my octo got into the box. I just didnt want him to get through the tube. I used a larger screen (craft type) and a cable tie. Everything else did in fact restrict flow.
