for my new tank I had been planning on have 4 72" VHO's running on two 660 ballasts with one connected to a Solar dimmer.

Now that my overflow plans are finalized, I realize that I would be better off with two 72" VHO's in the front of the tank and then a combination of three 36" VHO's or two 36" and one 24" VHO in the back of the tank. the different sizes are to avoid wasting the light over the overflow in the right rear corner of the tank.

I would think one 72" from front and a 36" and 24" from back would be on one ballast with the Solar Dimmer 750, and the other 72" and one 36" would be on the other 660 without using the Solar dimmer.

Question is will this combination of bulbs work with the ballasts?

Either combo will work well on a 660 ballast however, such a mixed and uneven balance may not dim very well. Give Champion a call and see what they have to say. My personal opinion is trying to dim 3 different size bulbs will not work well at all.

Thanks. I might be able to have the lighting at the back of the tank be a 72" for dimming and then a 36". From what you are saying that might work better. I'll work on the layout some more.
