I finally found someone who is willing to ship me codium, but the problem is they have never shipped the stuff before and won't guarntee it will be alive when it arrives. They only say it will be healthy when it leaves.

So my question is, is codium hardy enough to ship and what is the proper way to ship it to ensure it does survive? (Unless there is someone local to San Gabriel, CA that I can buy some from.)

What is the best way to attach the codium to a rock? He will be sending a piece that is 5"-6" long no rock.

Hey Juli,

[welcome]

I think codium should be just as hardy as something like Caulerpa. I know it is available at www.billsreef.com and I believe he guarantees it will arrive OK. Depending on what species of Codium you are growing, I think you can put it in a rock and as long as it doesn't get blown off by the current it will form rhizoids and attach. Perhaps loosely holding it in place with a rubber band until it forms rhizoids would be helpful.
