Just got one myself.
Very Very Cool!
amazing how inquisitive & aware they seem.
Mine's in a 1gal. (yes, 1 gal.) with 3 other hitchhiker crabs.
Only the crabs seem to fight with each other
only ambient outdoor/bathroom light for these guys.
Feedings of F-1, Vibra-grow & Peppermint fry
They all LOVE the peppermint fry

hey nts9

welcome to the mantis gang!

i would watch those crabs at molting time as i have had a mantis killed by hermits while trying to molt! (crabs are a bit more aggresive than a hermit)

ISFRAEL,

Love It! Already have a story too...
When I first put him in,
within 5 minutes, my little red rock crab, half the mantis's size
kinda crept up and then finally tried to rush the new addition.
The mantis very quickly thumped the little crab (in the forehead?)
wherin, the little crab sorta shook it off,
then quickly scampered away.
Could'nt believe the crab tried that.
First and last time I've heard the little click.
Great Entertainment.

Thanks for the welcome, glad to be here.

its good to watch a bit pf mantis smashing action isnt it!
i give mine live shrimp from the local (not polluted) tidal pools!
they are about 1" and are clear and quiet funny to watch being smashed.

i would seriously watch those crabs! (that one sound awfully aggresive)

they will probably be ok normally but during a molt the mantis hasnt got his hard armoured shell for protection or his clubs.
if that crab is as aggresive as it sounds then i would be getting it out of the tank.
i lost a 4" mantis to a 1" hermit when he was struggling with his molt!
