Halimeda Went Sexual

I got some halimeda a few weeks ago from Liveaquaria and It was doing great and Because of the Last Reefkeeping issue I noticed today that it started to go Sexual... It turned a very dark green on the edges and very pale white everywhere else.. I pulled it just for Safety reasons but does anyone know why it would do this..

Often environmental changes will cause macro algaes to spawn. Unlike Caulerpa, Halimeda usually doesn't cause problems in the tank when going sexual.

As Bill said, any change in the environment - for better or worse - can cause this. Rapid growth and vitality seem to be a trigger also. Regular pruning helps in most cases.
