Hope I am not beating an old horse but- I have a one clam (4-5 inch) out of a group of 7 corcea - that seems to have mantel pinching. I gave it a R.O. bath for 30 min, and it is OK for 1 month. them it shows again. This happened 3 times! Should I try longer bath? cooler water?

Something may be bothering it....have you tried moving it to a different location, perhaps a lower light?

High water flow makes them do that too.

What exactly is mantle pinching?

Could be the lighting, I did change from 15k 250w to 10k 400w. I have yet to figure out how to size and post pic's so, nodarb007, if you read through the posts some of them have good pic's. To me it looks like it is a muscle cramp on the outside rim of the mantle.

The pinching was in the upper part all along- Coloration inproved due to increase of light- I gave it another bath friday and moved it away from the others ( mainly because I got 2 more from Dr Mac's. The dip seems to have worked, although it did not open fully yesterday. Lights not on yet today.

Hey guys, quick replies were not meant to be arguementative!! hope I spelt that right!? I welcome any/all help!!! Dip seems to have worked OK. Mantel extention not as good in lower light but clam looks better over all. I was wary of setting new calms in same spot- but after one week new clams look very good and I have to say- better looking and cheaper than the ones at the lfs.
