single 6100 in 100 gal

I have one 6100 with single controller, going to install my custom made 100 gal tank (54 x 22 x 21).

My return flow is small (Iwaki 20 rlxt, 500 gpH?). and I'm not going to use any additional power head.

Do you think this is overkill? Do I have to step down to one 6000
or two 6000?

You will have to try it but I think it will be too much. Maybe with the flow turned down and the outlet deflected off the front it will work.
