Do a search on New to hobby (http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=104) forum. You'll find countless posts. Good luck. :)

Hi Acrojay,
The problem is not the red slime. The red slime is just the symptom. The problem is a build up of excess nutrients in the tank. You need to export more nutrients - and you also need to keep feeding the animals in your tank. :D
Do a search of this forum (the search button is at the top of the page). Use "nutrient export" as your search words. You will get a lot of hits. Scan through them and see what some of your options are.
If you have any problems with a skimmer, it is because it isn't skimming enough.
For your chemistry questions, please see the Chemistry Forum. :D

i dosed my tank last night my red slime remover by ultralife and wow does this stuff work!!!i had been battling red slime for over a month now and now not one spot of it noo more.
i dosed the night before and turned off skimmer from skimming but was still running.i took out all of my carbon bags.i just let it run all night.then today i woke up early and did a 5 gallon water change.then about 2-3 hours later i did another 5 gallon water change syphonning out all of the crap gfrom my gravel.then another 3 hours i turned on the skimmer.it spit out soooo much water that i had to turn down the valve almost all the way off and it was still spitting out like crazy.i had a 5 gallon buket full of water made already to replace the water being spit out by skimmer.after about a hour the skimmer started slowing down and i could open the ball valve open to where i had it before.i put some carbon bags back in and it looks crystal clear and no sign of red slime.
its a little long process but if you have paitence its worth the whole wait.just consider my tank is full of ORA sps, zoos, and rics.
and now im going to go purchase a reef janitor pack some where so i keep this and all unwanted algae rid of.does anyone now and a equal mix of clean up crews.is so let me know.thank you:furious:
