I am purchasing my first clam soon and am looking for any pointers given my tank. I have a 20 long with 150 watts VHO, been keeping SPS for a couple months now with great results. All levels are good, and the tank seems to be very stable. The clam is a squamosa, around 1.5" I am going to start dosing DTs more often, but how often and how much is a mystery to me. Any info that may help would be appreciated.

Hey, and:

I feed my clam (about 3") every few days. I simply put it in a bowl of water and DT's, and take it out when the water is clear. I would get more opinions as far as how often and how much, but my clam still looks healthy. I usually put half a cap from the smallest sized bottle to a whole capfull. I am not sure whether or not this is an overdose or not enough, but I have had good results this far.

By the way, going to any games soon?

well, here it is in the tank. Its very tiny, but has opened up and is reacting well. Seems to be just fine.

Cool, and sorry. I always get you and Brandon mixed up for some reason. Plus, I misread and thought there was only one event going on. Good luck with the squamosa. It looks nice.

By the way, here's my clam in a tupperware feeding:

It likes to squirt water everywhere . Not to mention it has a far-reaching aim.

AGGIE05, Nice looking clam, wish I could find one like it! I would think that one capful 3 days a week is ok for a 20. smaller tanks require more frequent testing. And hey brackish guy, my puffers ate every sw fish I put in the tank after I increased Salt level to 1.024! I flushed them even though they were 2+years! evil guys! by the way, what are you doing with a pic of my dreams!

Hey. Am I "brackish guy"? I don't keep puffers anymore. I used to, then got into saltwater.

Sharira----- the clam looks good too--- but I did not see it the first time!!! I carried over my brackish tank to a sw. all fish did well but puffers as I said killed any new sw fish. I just wondered if you had same experiance, guess not.
