I just picked these two up yesterday. They were acclimated for 7 hours and this is how they look today.

Being my first clams, I can't really tell if they gaping/healthy or what not. I am a little worried about the 1st clam.. seems to have a little bleaching in the middle~is my observation correct? The second one looks pretty big, fat & healthy. You don't think it's over extending, do you?

What should I do?

They are currently on the bottom of the tank ~30" from 2 x 250w 10K metal halides. Soon to add 4 x 54w T5 Actinics and Blue Plus. Tank params:

Ammo 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 5ppm
Phosphate 5ppm
pH 8.2
SG 1.025
Ca 430ppm
Alk norm
Temp 82F

Thanks for the input. As soon as they acclimate to my lighting, I was planning on placing them higher, up on the rockwork.

The 1st one is gaping some and looks a little bleached.

Both of mine started off this way but recovered in about a week.

Once they settle in they will get darker in color.
