I have decided I will get a squamosa in a few months and would like to plan ahead. I want one that is ~2" or so, and reasonably well colored. The LFS's here don't get much like that here so I guess I will be buying online. I would appreciate some suggestions on where to buy it.
Also, buying online, is there any way to pick a color/pattern? I would pay a bit more to be able to see before I buy.
Thanks,
Gusty

Flying Fish Express and Coral Reef Production both have pics of available clams. Dr. Mac also has pics, but seems to sell out of stock before the pics are posted (must be good quality stuff, the price looks right).
I have NOT ordered from the shops above because some of the LFS in my area carry clams at similar prices (after factoring in shipping charges).
I bought a great 2 inch squamosa about 3 weeks ago. Its a green/gold color that look similar to tiger stripes (just like on the CRP web site). I paid $25 for mine in NYC.

Try and get a little larger one...it will be hardier. Squamosas come in fantastic colors: green, purple, blue...if you can find them.

Try Harbor Aquatics (http://www.harboraquatics.com/) too. I've gotten a couple of clams from Joy and have always been more then satisfied with price and selection.

I appreciate the suggestions. It's always nice to get recommendations when dealing with a new store.

I've seen Joy' s clams as well - in Harbor Aquatic's greenhouse.VERY nice!! I think if you are serious about purchasing a specimen, she will send you a pic of one.Be forewarned: there are some REALLY nice clams out there. She is also a pleasure to do business with.

I actually got one through Dr. Mac's, it's really nice, and it's doing well.
