Spotted our young hero looks for a position of safety AND which provides a perch to launch a sneak attack on that melanistic chrysopterus:

Will these two ever realize they are meant for each other?

Will they just continue to injure themselves needlessly?

Or will the Nefarious Fishkeeper get bored with them and pair them up properly?

The story will unfold, here, on this thread, and maybe the REAL owner of these fish will drop in and take some decent pictures ;>)

I wish you luck. I just started a small chysopterus in QT yesterday. I will hopefully set up my own version of your experiment soon, but with younger fish.

The Nefarious FishKeeper wonders why this little skunk has been in the tank without a scratch for all this time, even after a pair of ocellaris were totally destroyed by the Queen of the Reef chrysopterus.....

Only one thing to do: Hire a PI to follow them around after dark!

The first envelope arrives and the FishKeeper is left to ponder, "Is this just a one time stand, a relationship, another ruse?":

Forgive me but I have changed my avatar so many times in the last week, I am not sure which you are talking about :D

The current avatar is the same as the first picture on this thread which is a black variant of A. chrysopterus in a greenish S. haddoni carpet.

The other clown on this thread is A. sandaracinos shown first in a bleached H. magnifica, a typically colored H. magnifica, and then in a giant H. crispa with the A. chrysopterus.

You may have seen my avatar with A. chrysogaster, etc. lately as well.

That poor tusk does not have a chance with that chrysopterus, she owns that 300g and reigns as Queen ;>)

man i didnt know you had a tusk in the reef.
now that just sets it off for me but that chrys has caught my eye i love the black white variant of clownfish of any type. if i may ask where did it come from im going to have to keep an eye out for when i setup my 180 looks like i may be finding chrys to take over the 180 instead of the clarkii i have now

fwiw: I have seen a few of these black chrys, but never before one blue like this one. In addition, I have never seen a chrys as dominating as this one either, the tank is 88"L and she keeps the tank in check end to end. If the mixed pair solidifies and I don't find an appropriate black white tailed male chrys, she is going into a 90g to breed :)

that fish is one heck of a looker, i knew marina had some nice fish but man she blew the roof off with that one i hope you get it paired with something would love to see what they produce

I was wondering where this thread went :)

Moved the "pair" into a a breeder, the 48" top tank in my gallery, and they seemed to get along or tolerate each other in closer quarters.

Short and sweet: I wacked the female black chrys when I was consolidating fish with my main system. I suspect I re-introduced her to amyloo, it was quite ugly. Not going down the chrysopterus path anymore, I just don't seem to have the touch with them :(
