I've found a clam that I really want and have put it on hold. Before I bring it home I need to know if it will thrive in my aquarium.

Is 96watts of 50/50 pc lighting over a 12" deep tank enough?

It is a 2.5 inch Crocea, is it large enough to eat on its own? Or, will I have to target feed it?

No, I'm sorry. There's a chance it might survive, but thrive, no. I've seen people with 96w powerquads try maximas (which are less light demanding) in 6-12 gallon tanks. They never seem to make it past the 6 month mark.

If you're really interested in clams, consider upgrading your lights to a MH bulb. I had a 15 gallon tank with 3 65w PC bulbs over it, and ditched them for MH so I could keep clams. Best of luck! :)

Your clams and corals will thank you. Shop used and you might not be out a penny if you sell your PCs. :)
