I have never known exactly what species it is so I finally got some reasonable pics so I was wondering if anyone had any insight. Thanks.

Beautiful animal! Can't quite tell, but looks like a nice little female.

If the meral spots are orange, it is a Gonodactylaceus ternatensis female. However, I have seen a rare color morph of Gonodactylus smithii with this same color pattern. If it is G. s, the meral spots would be purple.

It is for sure a female as every few months I see it playing with a pink ball of eggs. She rolls them around in between her dactly's but alas they will never hatch, as if I could raise them if they did. I eill have to look up what meral spots are, but I havn't seen orange on her but there is quite a bit of purple. Thanks!

I had a momentary brain meltdown. The antennal scales are typical of a G. t. female. They are blue in G. t males.

The striking arms are so uniquely/boldy colored, that is a beautiful mantis shrimp. Thanks for the photos.
this photo shows the meral spots of a female G. t. - so you can compare your own to it.

Thanks! I will try and get some close ups of the meral spots, they are very defined. Thanks for the clarification on what meral spots were.

Didn't mean to get this, but camera focused on the acrylic which as you can see is littered with gouges from her.

do you have any pics of her tail because we pulled a female out of a tank at work and im mantis sitting it until a fellow co-worker can downgrade tanks. its deff a gonodactylid because of the round eyes as opposed to oblong eyes of neogonodactylus, have the orange meral spots and is very agressive, but its telson looks like an N.wenns tail ill try to post a pic of her tommorow.
p.s. same color and it had unfertile eggs.
thanks,
dylan
