I have a 20gal hex that I am setting up for a future mantis. What kind of filter do I need?
I was thinking of a wet/dry with a DSB, or an undergravel possibly?
Also how much live rock should I have if any?
Hey. Most people would suggest you don't use an undergravel filter. As far as the liverock, you need at least some rubble for it to make a den in.

i just have 2-3" of sand in my 20L, a HOB filter running carbon. and some live rock i formed into a cave.. put sand over the back/top so there was one small opening.. and he dug the rest :-D oh yeah and theres a power head in there too.
Well, everything seems fine :)

So what about algea blooms? how would I go about controling anykind of algea? Or do I just ignore it and just keep it off the glass?
Also could I put a black long spine ircin in with a mantis to control algea?
