Hi,

My local fish store got a lot of Maximas last week. After an hour of selection, I purchased this babie Maximas clam.

My tank is 20g with 150 DE MH.

Now, it is sitting on the sand bed.

Is it doing ok now from the picture? should I move it on the rock?

I feed it a hour after I put it into the tank.

Please advise.

thanks!

It will be fine just keep feeding it....keep an eye out for parasites and niping fish...

Last nite, I turned upside down and then I turn it back again.

It doesnt like on the sandbed??

Should I move it on the rock? I am just worried about that my snail or hermit crab will push it down.

Mine's about 12" under my 70w halide on the sand in my 10g. I origionally put it up on the rocks, but after jumping down twice, I let him have his way ;)

That is what I am always worried about. I used to have a very nice crosea clam and when I left it on the rock, it jumped down THREE times and died finally.

Anyways, today its mantles is FULLY OPENING! eheheh I just bought the other one today.

Hey,it was 20 bucks for such a nice clam! how could you beat this price.

Maxima's are rock dwellers, so you need to move it.

Untrue. Maximas can live just fine on the sandbed. Countless people have done it. Now....they often prefer to have somethig to attach to. Most people put a small flat rock or enpty shell in the sand to set the clam on. They usually attach fairly quickly.

Are you prepared to feed this clam? He will need special feedings until he is about 3 inches. Live phyto through a bowl feed or feeding bell are the common methods.

Any suggestions on where to purchase live phyto? How much should be fed to the little ones?
