hello everyone I just wanted to ask a questions before I went out and bought a clam. The tank I wish to add a clam to is a 90 gal tank that has 2 175w halides and 2 no actinics I was wondering what clam will do good under those lighting conditions?

The best clam to start with is the derasa IMO. It is hardy and does not require as much light as the crocea or maxima. With the 2 175W MH, you should be able to keep it without a problem related to light.

I have a derasa, crocea, and two maximas in a 125 lit by 2 175MH and 196W PCs. They have been growing great for over a year.

I would try a derasa first. They require less "work" to keep. If that guy does well you can feel comfortable trying a more expensive/more dependant on tank qualities type clam. You could also start out with a squamosa clam if you can't find a derasa. A squamosa is pretty easy to care for too.

There is some good info in this thread (http://www.reefcentral.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?threadid=35412). Pay particular attention to the post by JT. It may be of some help.
