I have a very large system with several 400 watt halides. My system is plumbed into the basement where a Medusa controller turns on fans when the temp. reaches a certain point. This keeps my temp. regulated without the use of a chiller except for the warmest of days of the summer.

With summer thankfully on the way I need a controller that will shut down some of the lights if a max. temp. is reached, (ex. 83) I know I can do this with your product by setting up all the lights as heaters that shut off at 83 and plug separate light timers into the sockets of the Reefkeeper to control photoperiod.

My question is: I don't want to do this if this feature is coming soon to a Reefkeeper near you :)

Is their any plans to add this feature in the near future?

Mantis,

There won't be any enhancements for awhile now that the software is stable. But, what you describe is clever and will work.

i too wish there was a way to have my lights shut after a max temp. one of the main reasons i got the reefkeeper was to replace all those timers i had, so i dont really see that as something i would do.

Curious, if some of these things can be enhanced with the software alone and not additional electronics.

Will there be a way to update your firmware/software on these units to take advantage of the new feature for existing units ? or will they likely only be available for new units. If only for new units will there be a trade-in discount ?

Nevermind,

I found this reply in the big reefkeeper features thread......

The next round of features down the road will be add-ons to the current product. All you will need is a software update and accesories. We want to make it easy to add on and protect your original investment. We have some good ideas for upgrades. We haven't decided all the details or pricing yet but I'm sure they will please.

Take care guys,
