View Full Version : Just verifying this would be good for my 180

After reading a bit, I'm thinking a TS24 kit would be more than enough for my 180 tank? I currently run a couple SEIO's, only the 820's in fact, with my split return, (no CLS) and it seems to have plenty of flow, and my sand is constantly blowing around.

I don't have $800 to drop just yet, but with the reputation Tunze has for their products, and me wanting the best for my reef, I just want to be sure I'm saving for the proper product!

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

The TS24 will be a ton more flow than what you have so you might consider the 2 6000's and a controller. This is still double what you have but you probably won't have sand bed issues once the sand matures.

Honestly, I answered within a bit more than 24hrs. I don't think the second post was necessary.

TrojanScott - I'm running a 210G tank (just like a 180 but a few inches taller) and was running 2 Seio 1500 (1500GPH), 2 3/4" sea swirls and 2 returns and found the extra flow to produce excelent SPS polyp extension.

How much flow and type of flow depends on how your live rock is aquascaped as well as the number and types of corals.

I agree with Roger that a pair of 6000s (~1850 GPH) would be sufficient unless you can bounce the stream of your front glass or could change to a bare bottom tank and/or use larger grained sand.

Both the 6000/6100 pump controller allow you to vary the speed from 30 to 100%, then again with either the single or multicontroller; so, you have many options with Tunze controllers to fine tune the speed.

Sorry if I offended on the second post Roger. At the time, there were like 20 views, and nobody gave any input.

Thanks for your response, and Scott, thanks for your input as well.

This is the way of reef central. ;)
