View Full Version : what to do?

I have been doing my research on these, and they look like they are what I want. The only problem that I see for me is that all 3 of my 250W MH go into one ballast box and come out as one cord. That puts that one cord at the 750W and the ReefKeeper is only set to go to 740W. Any recommendations on what to do?

Thanks,
Rob

Can you add another cord to the ballast box (or preferably two)? Having three 250's on one cord is very inconvient IMO. Keep in mind that they ballast will draw much more than 750w when it first fires up, so I seriously doubt it will work with the RK's 6 amp limit per outlet.

I agree that its normal draw would be about 6.5A.

Modify the ballast box wiring so that you have a cord for each lamp. This will also alllow you to stagger the on/off times for a nice dawn/duck effect.

That is what I did with mine. Very cool effect IMO.
