Well my AQIIIpro arrived yesterday. Today I wired it to my router. I went to http://www.dyndns.org/ for the dynamic DNS. It detected the IP address that my browser was reporting. I assigned it a name. When I typed in the name I recieved a site under construction page. I setup the AQIII with the protocols for my router. I also did the port 80 forwarding to my AQIII (from my computer). I checked the written address again with the same result. I then typed in the numerical address that DYNDNS said my browser was reporting. I was able to access the AQIII and login and view all parameters from home computer . I went to work and tried it there with no luck using both the numerical or the written web address ;( . Any suggestions??
I am not using aquanotes just the web interface.
I have a linksys router with a cable modem using COX cable as ISP.
Thanks,
Jacob
Make sure the gateway address on the 3 Pro points has the IP address of your linksys router. This is likely your problem.

Having the same problem, checked the gateway address in the AQ3pro and it's the same as the router.
I am assuming that the router needs to be setup to forward port 80 traffic to the internal IP address of the AQ3. In my router I'm required to specify both the imbound and outbound port, do you recommend port 80 for both ways?
What about the DNS address, I have that set at the router address as well?
Usually you have the external and internal ports the same, however, some ISPs don't allow servers on port 80 and perhaps other ports. If so then you would have the external port be different than 80 (like 6000 say), and the internal still be port 80. If you run on a different port then you must specify this in the web address of your browser. For example port 6000 at foo.dyndns.org would be http://foo.dyndns.org:6000
If you router has the ability to serve DNS addresses then you can set the DNS address to point to your router. Otherwise you'll have to find out what the DNS IP address(es) are for your ISP, and put those into the AquaController. Note, that currently the 3 Pro only uses the DNS server to resolve the ip address of the smtp server for outgoing emails.

Can someone check to see if this page loads for you? It worked at home but not from work...

Also, anyone know how do you setup a guest user?

The page cannot be displayed
Can you open the page on your local network? A good resource for DSL quirks and faqs is dslreports.com. Take look there and search for your ISP and/or router.

I will re-post this here from another thread. It may or may not help you but....
"To briefly or not so briefly sum up what it took for me to setup the ACIII pro on my network:
1.
acIII pro settings:
ip address: 192.168.1.50
netmask: 255.255.255.0
gateway address: your routers IP address for me it was192.168.1.1
primary dns: same as routers ip 192.168.1.1
alt DNS same again 192.168.1.1
(these settings may be different for your system)
2. If you have a dynamic IP (PM if you dont know what this means) then set up account at www.dyndns.com and add dynamic dns to your services. you will have to pick a name: for me it was reefstatus.kicks-***.net (the last part is chosen from a dropdown menu) Make sure there are no profanities in there or you will get *** on RC if you need help
3. I also am running the software from the below link to update my dynamic ip address (or else it will not work once your dynamic IP address is changed.. https://www.dyndns.org/support/clients/dyndns.html
(pm for more info if needed)(my wife actually installed this software so I will have to ask her)
3.(enter configuration by putting in your routers IP adress for me it was 192.168.1.1 in your web browsers address box) configure your router for port forwarding to your ACIII pro local ip address ie :192.168.1.50. This was the PITA for me. Web servers typically run on port 80 so you would forward port 80 inbound requests to your ACIII pro. Well here began the problem. Many ISP's (mine is Cox cable) block inbound port 80 for residential access( they did this initially due to worms, but now it is more like another way to get you to upgrade your services to a business level service ie: more money). However, there is a way around this. on my url: http://reefstatus.kicks-***.net:6000/ there is a ':6000' attached to the address. This signals the address to go to your ip address and then look at port 6000. From there you need to get it back to port 80 (needed for ACIII pro to send and recieve signals. This was the second major issue I had. Not all routers will let you do this and it is not always obvious. I ended up updating the 'firmware' on my router (per linksys tech assist advice after multiple attempts to get it to work with no success). I then made router listen externally on port 6000 and then send this info on port 80 under the tab : forwarding and subtab UPnP forwarding. Here is a blirb from this section:
UPnP Forwarding
UPnP Forwarding can be used to set up public services on your network. When users from the Internet make certain requests on your network, the Router can forward those requests to computers equipped to handle the requests. If, for example, you set the port number 80 (HTTP) to be forwarded to IP Address 192.168.1.2, then all HTTP requests from outside users will be forwarded to 192.168.1.2."
4. I was also told by linksys that I needed to enable logging. (I felt this was suspect but it cant hurt and is enabled on my router so do this if you can. For me it was under the admin tab on the router setup and you just had to click enable.
5. If it still isnt working go back and verify everything you have done (I swear things change on there own sometimes ! ).
viola after three days in the hands of a network fumbling idiot it seems to be working
PM me if you want to be confused some more

100 things including
the ISP changes my IP like 3 times a day!
The DSL modem (does natting like a router) had to change it to a bridge.
Anyone know how do you setup a guest user?
There is currently no guest access on the 3 Pro.

No way to provide view only access?
The hooks are already in the controller; we just haven't enabled it due to lack of testing and security concerns.

would this be a rom update? If so can that be flashed by the end user?

Curt What about to Aquanotes? Does that support guests?
I am so lost with remote veiwing. I've tried a ton of things, still woun't work.
The firmware is our controllers are flash based so they all can be updated. For the 3 Pro it simply involves connecting the controller to your Ethernet network, and then running an update program on a windows PC.
Yes, AquaNotes supports guest logins. Pete, call tomorrow when you are in front of your controller, and I'll help out with your network configuration.

guest access worked? How did you set it up via the AQ3 pro?

I am just curious as to why anyone would want "guest" access to their controller. I see this as a possible security issue. If you want "guests" to just see the data on the controller, it would be much safer to make webpages that pull the information instead.

No, it just pulled up the website Chris's real time reef or something like that. If you clicked on status it asked for a login name. But a good thing about guest is you could temp. have someone help you set something up or program something you were having a hard time with. Then change the guest password after otherwise you would have to keep changing your own password each time. I try to keep mine the same or at least one of a half dozen ones I use.

guest would be view only, thus no security issue.

I would like to suggest DHCP be added to the ACP3. These really need to be easier to get set up.
DHCP doesn't work too well for a server. I think that we'll get just as many support calls/questions because the IP address of the AquaController will change because the DHCP server gives a different address. You can get around this by configuring the DHCP server to lock the IP address to a Mac addresses, but this is something that the user has to configure as well.
