Unit cuts out.

Sporatically my unit cuts out and the lights flash back and forth for a few seconds and then the unit starts up again! Anyone have an idea why this happens?

It has happened to me a few times. I have mine narrowed down to my powersupply from Edison. Each time it as happened recently, it coincided with my lights flickering which I can only assume is a brownout of some sort. The wiring in my area is about 50 years old, so not exactlyt he most reliable. From what I have seen the RK unit is very sensitive to an drop in voltage and will reset if it is bad enough. Usually mine just resets the halides and they stay off for 15 minutes.

Sounds like a possibility. At least it's not another software\hardware bug.

Not sure if that is it or not, but it seems like more than a coincidence. I cannot of course watch the tank all day, so I am not sure if it has happened since, but I haven't noticed it, and neither has my wife or daughter so I think the power problems are a good suspect. It is too bad I dont' have a nice UPS setup to put in front of it.
