Filtration?

Do you know if the samples were filtered prior to analysis? My question especially realtes to the Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen test and the ICP test for phosphorus. In particular, the question has come up as to whether these tests are measuring any particulae organic matter, or only dissolved organic matter.

I don't know if the water was filtered, and I will contact the lab to find out.

I have sent an email to my contact at the lab. If I don't get an answer from her by mid-afternoon, I will call her and find out.

Also, I want to discuss with her how to collect some of the samples for the "export" phase of this study (particularly things like algae - and I also want to test some sediments to see about the possibility of sediment sinks).

Hi Randy,

I just got off the phone to the lab, and the samples were not filtered, and so any of the values should be regarded as the sum of what was in any microparticulates and what was dissolved in the water.
