Hi everyone,

My dad and I have decided to host a frag meeting at our house.

It will be held on Sunday July 31st

Time to be determined later...

We are in Amherst, NY. That is a suburb of Buffalo, NY. About 20 minutes away from the Buffalo, or Tonawanda LFS's. It is very easy to find our home, it is very close to 2 thruway exits.

You guys can mapquest it now, if you'd like.

:bounce1: 1629 Dodge Road, East Amherst, NY 14051 :bounce1:

 Our phone # is 1-716-688-4223

I have a 120 gallon starboard reef to look at, as well as a 300 gallon sump, full of more corals to view.

Plenty of parking space on the lawn, as well as a neighboring school parking lot.

I have a ton of corals that i will be able to frag, as well as a lot of tanks and equipment i hope i can sell.

I encourage you all to bring equipment (tanks, lighting, etc. to sell) And i hope we can really get a HUGE amount of Fragging and trading going on.

I will supply you guys with pizza from a new local pizza place, that is superb.

Please respond to this thread if you are planning to attend.:)

I will start up a new thread for trading/fragging in a few moments

This should be a great meeting guys!!!!!

My dad and I look forward to seeing new and old faces, and having a great get together with everyone!!

Thanks

Steve and Ron Helinski :smokin:

I dont have any corals or even a reef setup (yet), but would be interested in getting to know other locals and seeing what is for sale. Might help if there is a list of items (frags and equip) listed up front so people can be better prepared.

 Hi. I don't even qualify as a newbie. I'm in an extended research phase. (So far I have a stand half-built, an empty 75 gallon preventing me from using my kitchen table, an old 20 gallon with more filtration than it needs, and a sump pump. I'm sticking with freshwater until I've collected enough equiptment to do reefing right.) I hope to make it to one of URS's events sometime.

Thanks,

i don't know if you guys ever saw that thread where the guy had a frag meet and was ripped off for a psp out of his house!
i know this will most likely not happen but it did bring up some good frag meet rules- check em out
1.name tags for all quests-helps in breaking this ice-w/ real names and rc names too!
2. sign in sheet- many guest will bring non rc memebers this way it will be easy to see who came
3.put all expensive items away-except sps!

and i was wondering will there be kids there?

i also think that it is great for the helsinki's to put this on and open thier home to us - the urs

scaz- great idea on the collection plate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, i gave my address for map quest on the first post. I live on the corner of Dodge and Casey roads. The DRIVEWAY is ON CASEY ROAD. It is a ranch-style, brick house.

If anyone needs better directions, just PM me.

Oh PS: I have asked the LFS's to stock up with good stuff for sunday. So hopefully they will all have some great stuff to check out. Please make sure to do so. Maybe on Sunday, some of us will take a little road trip.

:D

Jon - This thread is a year old. I'm afraid you missed the meeting.

Depending on what you are looking for, there are many local's to the Buffalo area (myself included) that are regularly selling corals.

Wow, have I really been lurking that long? I remember considering going to that meeting. I think I had some sort of conflict. (Likely, my schedule is usually packed.)

I havn't been lurking much lately, I've kinda given up on the SW tank given the cost issue. I don't like tackling problems I know I can't finish the best way.

Ahh, that's where you're in luck!
One of the greatest challenges I've found, isn't in tackling a given problem (someone's been there before you), it's in tackling quickly, effectively, and CHEAPLY! :D
Anyone can dump $10k into a glass box and make it look 'purty.
Run an SPS reeftank on Kalk, LR, sand, pumps, and lights... Now, THAT's a challenge. :D
You'll find there are 101 ways to skin the cat. Some take more money than others. I've found there are a few hard and fast 'rules', that I don't like to break, but beyond that, have found flexibility to be my friend.
Who knows, post's here are free, throw one of your problems out there and see what comes in. (just do it in a new thread, so other folks don't think Steve's having a frag-swap next Monday. ;) ).
