Anyone have any of those blue squamosas that are coming from Bali? Saw some on an online vendor's website, but was just too late, they were already sold when I viewed the site. Would like to see some pics if you got one.
Thanks

Just got quoted a price for a 3-4" blue squamosa for $750.00 shipping included. NO THANKS! Looks like I won't be adding one of those to my tank for a while.

Blue Squasmosas are extremly rare becuase this was the first time they have been imported to the US, and will probably be the last time for a few years. I have seen the vendors blue squasmosas in person, and they were gorgeous. I looked at them for a good 15 minutes.

Yes, I know they are rare. I 've been looking for one for quite some time. I didn't think they would go for that price though.

www.phishybusiness.com saw them in person and all I have to say is WOW spectacular!!! Serday has awesome shipping techniques as well. I pick my stuff up from him as I am 15 mins away and it is packaged better than any shipment I have ever had delivered to me! Was told they the blue squamosas have not been offered in the states in the past 5 years that most of them have gone to Europe.

i been talking with some people in the industry, ORA from what i understand used to get them in from time to time, they say it has been a really long time since they have seen one and is the reason why they have gotten so expensive. From what i understand you can get a baby and keep it under 20K for a while and it will turn blue, it will take long off course but it won't cost you over $400.

I have never heard of clams changing colors, they might appear to be a diffrent color due to the bulb but they wont actually change..

Julio

they change colors just like corals do. They will turn brown if not given enough light as well.

bencozzy

they will turn brown because of nitrogen levels being to high in the water regardless of lighting they get(MIKE PALETTA talked about this when he talk at the cora meeting, talked about the waikki aquarium having this problem with there clams and corals, high nitrate made them turn brown and it wasnt lighting because they use natural lighting)

just wanted to share that not trying to step on toes, we know clams and sps require high lighting to be kept healthy and happy

yes the tanks at the Waikiki awuarium do use natural light, but the corals and clams are not fully exposed to them as you woudl think, if you go there you wolud see what i mean.

None of the ORA blue squamosas I saw in real or in pics, can get the colors of the "True" Blue Squamie, the ones that were imported recently from Bali.

Julio

Something about sizing the pics that I am ignorant about anyhelp out there? I also purchased a large blue Squamosa 4.5 yrs ago 9" from flying fish express had 3 large ones. not as blue as this batch. those were the only ones that I have heard of coming into the staes. tridacnagigas, where did you get yours from?

You just need to make the pic smaller with some program like paint. Then upload it to your gallery.

Picked it up from Sadar at phishybusiness. Thanks for the info about the program i'll check it out tonight and see what I can do.
