Hey everyone!

Well, I finally have managed to get ahold of a mantis! A guy a couple hours away had one, and I was second in line and turns out I am getting him. Its some type of Gonodactylaceus species. I have yet to see what it looks like. Its about an inch long. I will be putting it in a 2.5g tank, and then soon(within the next few months) will make a 1/4" acrylic tank about 24x12x8H. I plan on feeding it an assortment of hitchikers from the LR shipments one of the LFS gets and other random foods or treats. I will have a few corals in the tank along with a little LR and an inch or two of sand, and a 10W 50/50PC screw in seeing as its laying around.

I have been looking for one for a year, and finally he is comming in tonight!

I'll get some pics once I get him but I must go get the tank ready haha. Cheers!

You won't need the acrylic tank. Glass will do fine for any Gonodactylid for at least the next three years.

Great, thanks for that info!

Well, i've got him. The guy was not joking when he said one inch, the thing is TINY! Haha but it looks so cool. Hes pretty much green and white, cant wait to see his colors develop. But wow is he small. I had some electric blue-leg hermits in there (big ones) because I figured he would likely kill them eventually but he is so small I removed them to my 75 reef cause I was worried they might kill him(they were fair-size hermits).

He looks so small in the tank, I cant wait to see him grow!

Cheers,

Chris

I appologize for the long delay in getting pics. I took these a couple weeks after aquiring him. These are from his old tank. During that time I built him an 8x8x5" high acrylic tank, which is using a red-sea nano-filter.

I will have to get some pics of my new peacock aswell.

Anyways, here he is in 'all his glory', heh:
