View Full Version : Starting up my JBJ 12g Nano Cube again

Well here we go for the second time with my JBJ 12 gal. Nano Cube in SW mini reef....
I bought the tank originally to have as a mini reef but either I did not set it up or got too anxious with it or for whatever reason, I tore it all down and then set it up as a nano FW planted tank ... WELLLL..... I got bored with that and decided that I would move all the plants and fish to a "new" home and bought a 37gal. glass tank.... WELLLLL..... the 37gal looked like a really good canidate for another reef tank ( LOL ) and I decided that the HOB fuge that I just recently bought for my 150gal. ( large model with light ) would really work better on it rather than the 150 ( which is having the sump converted to a fuge ) reef tank that is already running....
I already have a 29gal FW planted tank so I thought "well I'll just put the FW stuff from the nano tank to the 29gal". And so it was that I have two more reef tanks to setup and play with.....:D
I've learned a bit more about reefkeeping and so today I started the nano cube back up.... Filtration is the standard JBJ setup with the following "mod's".... I've converted the standard intake to an "overflow" by cutting teeth into the top and cutting off the flow through the grid with plastic.... I'm using the sponge in the first chamber on top of the bio-balls... now before you hit me with questions like " why do that ? " let me just say that they are totally submerged so I feel they will be no problem if maintained correctly and cleaned out with the foam filter.... Next chamber is filled with LR rubble from rocks that where in my 150gal that I could afford to lose.... The third and final chamber has a maxjet 600 running and I've installed the stock pump in the tank for additional water movement/flow.... I've put "back" the sand that I'd originally had in the tank the first go around and was surprised to see and smell that the sand was in great shape and had no odor to it at all.... It was live sand to start with and had been sealed up in a plastic bag once removed
Water has just been added and all is running ... I'm going to let it run this way for a week or so before adding anything to it including LR which I will be purchasing from Liveaquaria.com ( 40 lbs. of Premo Figi rock on sale for $89 if the sale is still on..) I'm not going to make the same mistake I made before and I'll aquascape it better so that I can clean the glass all the way around and have a gap behind the rock and the back wall to prevent any dead space....
Pictures will be comming so that anyone interested can watch the "re-birth" of this nano cube.....
:)

WTG...some thoughts....
--you could take the stock pump out of your 'tank' and put it in chamber 1
--er...I don't want to be the 'bioball police', but, I wouldn't put them in and I'd ditch the sponge after you are done cycling. You'd be better off getting that stuff out and adding media inserts like ChemiPure, SeaGel and/or Purigen
--surface skimmer mod sounds good.
Look forward to your pix. SH

But chamber 1 is the input side with the overflow mod... How'd that work..?? And also having the sponge filter in chamber one saves me from having dutritus collecting on the LR rubble.... How would you have the stock pump running in chamber one..??
Just curious....

It's a leap of faith in that people don't believe that their tank can remain clean without a sponge. Here is my 24G setup;
1) In chamber one, the stock pump is in the bottom, I ran an over-the-wall 'bulkheadless' outflow, since it was too late to dremel one. On top of that, I have my media (ChemiPure, SeaGel, Purigen)
2) in the middle chamber, I have the temp and pH probes and LR rubble, submersible fuge light and chaeto
3) Chamber 3 has a Maxijet 1200 and heater.
Flow enters chamber 1 and is pulled two ways, thru the media for chemical filtration and thru chamber two. The pump in chamber 1 kicks out the chemically filtered water back into the tank. Water enters chamber 2 where LR gets a shot at biologic filtration and nutrient export (chaeto), then enters chamber three where it is heated and kicked out.
No visible detritus in my tank...anything that is remains suspended for removal with water changes or , if you chose this route, skimming.
No sponges, bioballs, or beads:
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y55/steelhealr/nano76.jpg
On the other hand, there is NO RIGHT OR WRONG...just what WORKS FOR YOU!!. If you find that you build up nitrates in your tank, then you might want to change the plan. If it works for you, then go with the sponge/ball stuff. SH

Alright so let me see if I got this... You are basically shooting water from the stock pump into chamber two which has the rubble and such.. But the force of the pump in chamber one is also putting water back out into the tank from the top of chamber one..?? And most of the stock pump flow is still going into chamber two correct..??
I'd love to work it that way too if I could get you to post a pic of your filtration setup..... And I had also thought of upgrading the output pump to a maxjet 800 rather than the 600 in there now...
Oh and your tank looks fantastic by the way....

Here ya go...here is my thread on a bulkheadless outflow if you don't want to dremel:
http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=56215&highlight=No+bulkhead+no+problem
The stock pump in chamber one is pulling water down from the intake thru the filtration media and into the tank. The pump in chamber three is constantly pulling (for my 24) 295 gph into chamber 3, hence, the thought that it 'shoots detritus' back into the tank doesn't really happen.
If you have patience, here is a link to my 24G startup (similar to a 12G).....just warning..it has almost 50 pages and 50K hits. SH

hey steel...do you think that this mod would work in my 12 gallon, i have a maxi 1200 in chamber three, and only some sponges with carbon underneath in chamber one. i am thinking i will pick up all of the filter media that you use, and set it up similarly to yours. i could use the stock pump, or pick up a weaker maxi jet as well.
romeo22
08/18/2005, 08:52 PM
also, what should/could i put in the middle chamber...i am afraid to put LR rubble..is it ok to do now that my tank is cycled..will it put it through another cycle?
steelhealr
08/18/2005, 10:35 PM
Romeo....rule of thumb thinking is that 10X flow is OK, 15X better, 20X or greater is best...if you are going to keep corals. My nano is at about 20X. A similar ratio for the 12G would be a turnover rate of 240g per hour, right? The Maxijet 1200 is already at 295GPH. You COULD pickup a weaker one and put it in the bottom of chamber one or try the stock pump in there and see what happens to the back chambers, heat, etc.
Initially I put both pumps in chamber 3, however, unless you drill the walls between chambers more, the draw by these two pumps was more than the chamber walls would allow and the water level dropped in the back. Hence, moving the pump to chamber 1.
You don't have to be afraid about putting LR rubble in chamber 2. Buy 2-3 lbs of ANY cured LR at your lfs, bring it home and bang it into golfball size pieces with a hammer. Rinse off the debris in SW and you can just drop it in back there without worrying about cycling issues. Just make sure that the LR wasn't a shipment they got in THAT day..lol. Use cheap stuff for the LR (?Tonga) since you are only adding surface area for biologic filtration, not looking for life. SH

awesome, so maybe i'll skip the extra power, and pick up the filter media, and the rubble tomorrow...
so chamber one would be the ChemiPure, SeaGel, Purigen (all in separate bags?) and maybe one sponge?
chamber two LR Rubble
chamber three heater and maxijet 1200
sound good?

I've been taking notice as I'm planning to do something similar with my tank, this all seems like a great idea.
My tank is a mirabello 30 which has a seperate (small) area similar to the nano cubes. As standard the area houses a couple of different sponges, heater and a pump. It's nice because the water is forced through 4 seperate chambers so I can use different media in each.
My main question though is how effective will the LR rubble be in the second chamber? With good flow in the main tank the water is already being passed by lots of LR. Wouldn't some Chaeto or similar be much more effective? I guess the main difficulty is getting some light in for the chaeto..
Henry22
08/19/2005, 08:18 AM
They make submersible and clip on lights enough for growing chaeto and stuff but you if got a clip on and have a hood taht bout be hard to do. Im consider keeping my elsipe fiter and instead of pads putting in a few pieces of live rock and the cast off from my 96 watt coralife light is enough. Im not really sure.
Henry22
08/19/2005, 08:20 AM
Scrap that, theres no way i cna keep the filter and the area for the media if i get the 96w light. Oh well

Well Steel, I did the setup you suggested and took the stock pump and put it in chamber one... Flow to the other chambers has now picked up and the overflow is doing it's job better now... ( thanks for the tip ) .. I also went ahead and took out the maxjet 600 and put in a maxjet 1200 that I had on hand for the return in chamber three.... I've got great flow now going through the chambers and all the LR rubble is fully submerged ....
Thanks again.... I will post pic's later this afternoon of my still "bare" nano cube ( after the dust settles ).....
One thing that I'd like to add.... I noticed that when I was running the two pumps in my cube before this "upgrade", I did not need any extra help from a heater to maintain a proper temp in this tank.... So ( at least for me ) I will not be adding one.....

Fishman,
I think you should go ahead and get the heater - even if it's only precautionary. You can find a decent 50W titanium unit for under $30. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Thanks for the concern but like I said earlier, when the tank was running as a reef the first time, the temp stayed right at 80 degrees 24/7.... But I will keep a watchful eye on it anyway......
On another note, I just placed the order for the LR from Dr's Foster & Smith.... 45lbs of Premium Figi rock for $89.99..... Shipping brought it up to $149 but still a good deal for nice rock ( at least in my neck of the woods ) ... They say I should recieve it on Thursday via FedEx.... The reason for the amount ( 45 lbs ) is because I am also starting up a 37gal. reef tank and what I don't use in the nano will go in the fuge for the 37gal. :D .... with a little left over ( maybe ) to actually put some "IN" the 37gal. tank itself... ( But that's for another thread.....:D )

Good job you guys...I don't think you'll be disappointed. I keep chaeto in the middle chamber under a 10W submersible halogen light and it seems to be doing well. As for the media....you know..this thing becomes an art after awhile. If your tank is doing well...and you keep whatever inserts you want in there...then...ya stick with it. ChemiPure, Purigen and SeaGel work for me. I make some people laugh because I also add Algone. Was recommended to me by a reefer I bumped into at an lfs and ..well...works for me (reduces nitrates). Others will tell you it's a complete waste of money. Bottom line....WATER CHANGES....are the REAL key. I'll follow everyone's tank pix. SH

It ain't much but here are the pictures of the tank .... Nothing but sand and water.... I did have a slight issue with the maxjet1200 and micro-bubbles but I think I've got it fixed... ( more water in chamber 3....
Enjoy....

Alrighty.... It's been over a week but I just got in my LR order from Dr's Foster & Smith and just put some of it in the nano... The order was for "Premium Figi" rock... I'm wanting to stay away from the glass for maint. purposes and I was able to do that ...

"Water changes...?".... Yea it does kinda look like an alien spaceship sitting on top like that.... Instead of breaking it up, I may consider using a different piece that I've still got in the box waiting to go into the other tanks or just move it around.... One more thing that I did was to add a hydor deflector to the output... I got the idea from another persons tank thread here in the nano forum... I like the alternating flow that it's providing.....

It's a common mod..I have one on mine. If it pops off, you can use teflon tape to make it snugger. Some people put a piece of plexiglass in the back corner to help reflect some of the water back into the tank.
Yeah, that top rock reminds me of that old time alien video game Space Invaders. LOL. SH

 Yea I thought so too..... I ended up "moving" it a bit now it blends very well with the rest of the rockwork.... I ended up using tape ( like you ) after mine shot off into the tank.... If they had supplied just one other adaptor....LOL... Anyway, would you say that this rock is FIGI...??? I went through the rest of the box that I got from Fosters & smith and it looks to me like it's a mixed batch... It was supposed to be "Premium Figi" Hand selected with very little rubble.... It was on sale for $89/45lbs... But I've got to tell you... this stuff is not what I would consider "Premium" by any stretch of the imagination.... Shoot, I've gotten better looking LR for a buck/lb at the wholesalers.... I ended up with "maybe" 6 good sized pieces and the rest was busted up ... I've probably got about a pound or so of rubble in the bottom of the box...
I'm going to take some pictures of it and send it up to Liveaquaria's customer service via email ( pic's attached )... I'm not happy at all with this rock... Very little if any growth or coraline on it.....
I hope they can do something for me on this cause they did get me for shipping as well.... And it came from California rather than Florida where they said it was supposed to be comming from....
I'll have to show you the pic's of my 37 gal. tank that's also being setup along with the 12gal. nano cube....

LA is usually pretty good on service. They may replace some of the LR if you complain. I got mine from premiumaquatics. If there are no good lfs's near you, you could possibly 'topoff' your tank with a few lbs from them. SH

Well actually, it was pretty incredible.... After sending the email to LA, I also called them... Before even looking at the pictures, they made it right by telling me that they were going to ship out another 45lb box of what I originally ordered this comming Tuesday ( I will get it Thursday )... They also told me that they would make it a point to have the folks in Calif. "hand pick" the right stuff this time.... This will be done at no cost to me... Now "that's" customer service... And they have earned a loyal customer....
Here are pictures of what I got originally from them ( minus the ones you've already seen ).... And by the way, I replaced the full spectrum bulb in the 37gal. for a 20watt actinic for now... I have not purchased the final lighting for this tank... And the rock that's in there now, the stuff from LA, will be going into the sump of my 150gal.... You'll also see some pics of my HOB fuge that's over the 37gal....

I'm not sure if it's just the location or the room that the tank is in... But it's stayed pretty constant at 81 degrees... I've got it in my home office and it's in the lower portion of the house... actually on of the coolest rooms in the house ... I guess I just lucked out...

I'm not sure ANY crab is '100%' safe in a nano tank. I've just read lots of negative posts about SLF's with regards to corals. I have 2 emeralds in mine and they have eaten the bubble algae. I don't have experience with them with regards to hair. Don't laugh, but, if someone could lend you a tang, they supposedly eat it. One reefer on another forum had almost overnite success eradicating the hair algae with a UV sterilizer. Why or how? I don't know. The best thing tho' is to minimize nutrient input, improve nutrient export and make sure no phosphorus is getting in there. SH

I was just looking around and I think the "scarlet reef hermit crab" sounds like my best bet....
And SH.... You're right about other crabs not being 100% reef safe..Most of what I read stated that they are opportunistic feeders and if they don't have enough algae, will go after other "meaty" foods or attack some corals... ( not a good idea ) at least in my small reef tank....
Thanks for the help and advice..

Just thought I'd update by showing how the tank looks after "trimming" the hedge..... ( algae ) Actually, I pulled it up in a sheet like carpeting.... "But.. whatever works eh..??"

Finally added some "life" to my tank after 3 weeks running with just the LR and a few snails, I decided to transfer some mushrooms from my 150gal ( they were getting too much flow ) and a rock with some christmas tree worms ( which i think I may have lost one or two ) into this tank... Now I "just" added them and they are not opened up yet... Let me know what you all think ....

 Thanks.... Yea that last tuft is being eaten as I type this... I took some of the turbos out so that the other's will not starve... I put the other ones in the 37gal fuge to control some algae there... I've also noticed that I've got more of the Christmas Tree worms than I first thought.... So all seems to be on track....

Not sure of the thickness but it's a very sturdy tank... No cracks and no issues with it at all.... I think the 24gal JBJ's had issues with the glass but not the 12's

I really could not tell you the answer to that... It was only after I bought my 12gal and started going to the nano forum that I heard so much about the 24's comming in with cracked glass... I guess if you buy it directly at the LFS, you'll not have that problem...

Hey Bob..good choices. The majority of my tank is from LA. Have fun acclimating all the stuff (better put a big towel on the floor). My only suggestions:
1) if you got yellow colony polyps with that pack, they can spread, so, put them where spreading is OK
2) the rics in general like lower light and low to medium flow...think lower part of your reef
3)feather dusters like the rubble/rock...keep it in an area of good flow since it is a filter feeder. You'll need to start adding phytoplankton for it to survive.
Have fun....you might need to get some epoxy putty or super glue gel to set those frags on. SH

I hope not.... I'm getting over $400 worth... ( I'm also getting some clean-up crew for the 37gal and couple new fish for the 150gal )
Bad thing happened last night though, the pump powering my skimmer decided to "die" on me... It's on my 150gal.... One minute it was working... next minute ...nada... motor windings just opened.. actually the transformer ( it's not a motor )... I thank God it did not "burn" up... But I ordered another one off eBay and I should be good to go in a couple days...
It's a CA 2200 pump if anyone would like to know... lasted only 7 months... Next order I make is going to be a New skimmer.. I never did like this "built-in" model...

Did you request "overnight" Sat. shipping..?? If so, I'd be P'd...
I called yesterday before ordering this morning and they told me that as long as I got it in before 9:30 AM CS, I'd get it Sat. ..... By the way, I waited too long for the Hawaii featherduster.... Now they're out of them ... Oh well .. ordered a Coral banded for my 150gal instead... lol
One more thing... ( edit ) I just looked at LA's site... the shrimp is back ordered... maybe that is why your order is held up..?? And that blenny is beautiful... I may try one for the 37gal once it's got some more age to it...

Well for the most part, everything has worked out well... Everything has been placed in it's home and I've got some shots to share.... The only problems I've had are.. The blackcap baslet did not make it ( L.A. says they will reship after the 14 day warrenty draws to an end..) I also lost the pepermint shrimps ( powerhead ate them ).... Everything else is live but I'm not sure of the leather coral that I recieved and put in the 12gal Nano Cube ( pictures below ) It's only been 24 hours I know but everything else has opened up very nicely... Let me know what you guys think... L.A. is saying to wait and see how it does... If it fails to open ( My button polyps have not opened either ), they will replace it as well... Now for the pics...
The leather coral first...

Bob, I don't have much exp. w/leathers in my own tanks, but I used to work at an lfs, & I found it funny how they all responded differently once acclimated. If I had one that looked like yours, I would experiment w/sm powerhead placement, giving it indirect but higher flow. Sometimes this worked in the store. Wish I had some better advice, but in the store this always helped w/new leathers of so many dif. species. I think you're ok on lighting, but you might also try moving it up a few inches & see if it responds to that.
fishman805
10/09/2005, 05:07 PM
Thanks for the advice.... It's hard to tell by the pics but I've got a maxjet1200 linked to a Hydor that does put flow on the leather... Not all the time you understand but enough to blow the mucus around it.... The polyps seem to have "wanted" to extend but go back in... Do you think that a shot with a turkey baster might be in order..???
Bob
steelhealr
10/09/2005, 11:37 PM
Bob....my leather sits about midway up and gets moderate flow..enough to keep the tentacles constantly moving. In the pic below, you are looking from the right side. The Hydor flow is above to the right and flow is coming towards you from across the other side along the back:
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y55/steelhealr/nano99.jpg
You just got your leather and it needs time to acclimate. If it doesn't open soon, move it around and see if it prefers either more light or higher/lower flow. SH
fishman805
10/10/2005, 07:45 AM
Ok.... I took your advice SH and moved the leather both closer to the light ( which ain't much in this small tank ) and now the Hydor hits it directly on it's path.... Already it's blowing off alot of the "coating" that was on it from shipment.... I'll just have to wait and see how it responds

Well..you are adding corals, so, it is something to start researching, ie, the needs of your corals. Do you have Borneman's book? Although the corals have zooxanthellae, over time they WILL benefit from additional nutrients, ie, zoo or phyto. They do this in nature. Many times, eg, with my gornonian, they WILL open in response to a 'feeding'. However, they ARE already acclimated. SH

;) Yes I do understand about the care ... I routinelly add cyclopeeze to my 150gal even though the only critters that benefit from it are my lobophyllia and my button polyps.... I've also dosed with DT's phyto. for my fan worms and clam... ( in the same tank ).... I just wanted clarification on what you meant is all...
I also trigger the feeding response in my lobo and target feed it some mysis from time to time but have to keep watch over it until the food actually gets in it ( I've got several oportunistic tangs that see an easy mark and try to steal the food from it's mouth(s) )
Sorry if there was some confusion there.... But I do appreciate the remarks all the same... I "AM" still new at this....LOL
By the way, the leather is looking better and has just now started to open... It's "bumpier" now than it was and is still shedding mucuss but the flow from the Hydor seems to break it apart easily enough... I'll have to post some updates ...

Yes the basslet has eaten.... yesterday I actually saw it eat some mysis shrimp and I'm assuming that it ate this morning when I fed the tank... I actually did not see it eat today but the shrimp was making it into it's "cave" where it's hanging out...

Update on the leather and the tank in general.... The leather was showing signs of opening then seemed to go back to it's closed state again... Not sure why but since I've still got a week's worth of "guarentee" time through LA, I've decided to put it in my 150gal... I also moved the mushrooms to a better location in the 150gal... I was losing shrooms in the 12gal. ( breaking off ) so not it's in a better place... ( the 150 ).... The botton polyp frag also "never" opened and was a little rank when I finally sent it to SW heaven ( which I'm certian it had already gone to )... The tank looks rather bare without those two pieces but "heh" that gives me room to order more....
The polyps and other pieces are doing great.... I love the ricordia and plan on adding more of that to this little tank.... Oh and the Fire Shrimp has molted once already and is really doing well... It's a kick to watch him going after food....

Bob...sorry about the sixline. Sometimes things like that just happen during the early maturation process of the tank. As long as your params are in good shape, you may never find out what the problem was. POI..sixline's prefer a bit of swimming space. He might have been stressed out or stressed from the lfs. Let us know how the other frags do in your larger tank. If they open, might be a water problem. If not, could be stress from shipping/acclimation. SH

No ... other than the cloudiness on the left eye of the gramma, there were no signs of illness... The sixline was a complete mystery to me because it was doing fine the day before I found it dead... It was eating and going around the tank just fine... The gramma had the only outward signs of a problem...
I cashed in my "credits" with LA this evening and decided to get something new for the tank rather than replace the fish.... I'm getting a "very" nice "ricordia florida" rock from the "Divers Den" section... It will not show on that sight now since I purchased it... Gold and Green Ric's on a 4 1/2" piece of rock... I've already got a spot for it... It will be here on friday...

The beginning of a nano tank is the most critical time period. Remember...we're basically keeping a tank that is a 'glass of sea water' in our house. From my brief experience, I can tell you that losses will occur most frequently during the first few months. Eg, my tank could barely get a pH greater than 7.8. It's finally hangin' in at 8.2....like a cold engine coughing and spitting and then warming up to a nice hum. Patience. But, keep on plugging. My tank is almost entirely stocked by liveaquaria. Although the shipping seems steep, if you 'bunch' your orders, the savings on livestock usually make the shipping costs equitable. Besides, their service is great. JMO. Keep up the good work Bob. SH

Thanks SH.. It is a little disheartening when you lose fish so quickly... You're right though... The Black Cap that I put in my 150 plus the Foxface Lo that I also put in there are doing fantastic... And the leather is fully opened as well... I thought the polyps on it would have been a little bigger though... it looks like "fuzz"... But it definately likes it's new home... Better flow and lighting... But that tank has been set up now for 8 months so that says alot.... I'll keep plugging though...

Yea, I agree... aside from not seeing anything "swimming" around in it, it looks really cool with just the shrimp and the corals/polyps... I may put a court jester goby in "when" I go for another fish.....

Very nice. I think ricordea adds so much to a display because of the way they floresce. Are those eagle eye zoos from your 150? They have great color!

Great job Bob.....ricordeas can really expand...make sure they have room to spread out. They reproduce by dividing by fission. Lookin' good. SH

Hmmmm well it's been a while but here are some updates.... I've gotten a new camera that I'm getting used to ... a Kodak Z740.. 5 megapixle really nice.... I'm also having some issues with one of my zoo colonies ( you'll be able to tell by comparing previous pics with how it looks now.... Not sure what's going on but I've heard that maybe I've got too many pods running around the tank causeing them to be irritated and staying closed... But I've lost part of the coloney.....
This is the one...

Thanks..... I made a command decision and decided to move the zoo colony to my 150gal tank.... After washing the zoo's off in fresh SW... I also moved the mushroom rock to help in cleaning the glass better in the tank... I'll post updated pics' later in the day....

I'm not sure what this is but I took a few photos in hopes that someone can ID this.... Some history first: The other day while sitting in front of my Nano Cube, I caught sight of a strange "puff" of what looked like white smoke come from the back of the tank behind some LR.... I could not see what was doing it because everytime it puffed was when my Hydor was rotating around causing the water surface ripple.... ANYWAY, I finally caught site of what it was... Quite simply it was on top of the LR right in plain view... It looks like a snail of some sort?? It's conicle shaped and the reason I believe it's a snail is because it is mobile ... It "puffed" about every 15 seconds or so.... The pictures should be good enough .... The "critter" is just to the left of the button polyps that are in the picture and slightly below and left of the tubeworm tube and right of the hermit crab ( the snail shell in the pic ).... Here goes

And before I forget, I got the critter that I'd posted about earlier that was "puffing smoke " in this tank .... Is it a good thing or a bad thing...???

Thanks guys.... I think the key to the tanks success "this time" has been that I've not gone nuts adding stuff and have let the tank "mature"..... The Goby is the only critter that I've added to this tank in months.... He's sharing the tank with a Blood Red Shrimp, two astria snails and a skarlet hermit crab and that's it...
As for the mystery snail..?? Marc ( melev ) told me that it looked like a welk ( bad news ) so I flushed it:D .... I know I've also got a bristle worm in there somewhere cause I've seen it but I don't think it's a bad one.... Besides, I'm not tearing the tank apart to find it and it's been in there for months......
I may add some more zoo's to the tank eventually but right now I'm enjoying watching the Goby go through the sand and rock in search of food ( which this tank is loaded with pods ) .....

Hey Bob, just wanted to say that I agree with your decision not to go after that bristleworm. If you've seen 1, it means you probably have many, as they're very reproductive. If it was a bad one it would have a very different appearance than the ones you typically see in our captive systems. Also, you'd be missing polyps left & right. You'd definitely know it was the bad type by now.
The tank is looking great!

Thank you Wendy..... The tank is dominated by shrooms and polyps and all are doing fine so you're right, it's got to be a benine worm.....:)
